The trees I miss the most is the Madrona, I grew up in the Rouge Valley of OR and we had several of these on our property, they are so beautiful with their smooth red bark, not viable over here tho.OK, but last time he did not even look for any.............![]()
The real name of the tree is the California Buckeye...it is a weird tree to say the least, and goes dormant in dry hot weather (smart tree !) and has big seeds early in spring.........

I have seen them up that way too, but now we live in N east OR way to dry. I have started a small grove of Oaks tho.Actually there is quite a few of them from Olympia to Seattle.
There is even a few cosp of Oak around Cabela's area of Olympia.
I was surprised !
