A friend of mine just posted on Facebook that her daughter called from Reeves Middle School in Olympia from a locked room.  The school is in lockdown.  Her daughter said a man was seen entering the school carrying a rifle and shouting profanities.  This is all third hand information right now but I think some good thoughts could be used for those kids and teachers who are in lockdown without knowing what is happening outside their doors.

I'm not seeing any new information yet.  Let's hope this all blows over without serious incident.

ETA: This just now from the mother -
"School just called school will remain on lockdown today police are with the kids inside and all other kids are being held at the private elementary school close by. All I know so far".

Yeah, a facebook friend and shirt-tail relation of mine has a grandson at Roosevelt Elementary, another of the three schools involved.

Oh ok, well the only non-dairy cheese I am comfortable with (and that actually melts and doesn't taste like socks) is Daiya cheese. You might could try that

FYI: A fun thing I have been doing lately.

I get 2 half gallons of Fat Free (or 2%) Lactose Free Milk, and put it in my crock pot (slow cooker) and heat to 100 degrees F, then add 1 container Chobani Honey Flavour Greek Yogurt.....or Unflavoured...........and whisk in well............and then turn off the heat & wrap the crock pot in a big thick towel.
After 12 hours (or the next morning) I strain it through flour sack towel...dump the whey & store the thick yogurt in several containers in the fridge....add berries or whatever you like & save out a cup of the yogurt for your next batch.

FAT FREE, 2%, LOW FAT or whole Milk will work, lactose free means no lactose !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unflavoured also works great for sour cream-type use.....on tacos or taters or whatever you would use sour cream for.
Maybe fine for subsitutions for cream cheese as well ?

Ya.. I really like the way it looks -- and how the air flows through it. It is key to keep the relationship between width and depth of the structure in sync, so the air flows properly.

VF I tried to do something similar with my small upper coup. Air circulation is great but be careful to site the coop so the sun does not come streaming in the windows, to fry them in the summer, I had to decrease my window size just so they could have some shade. could have put up awning over windows but our wind is too fierce. I think this is a great coop and wish I had had the support to have built it.

Oh... I just saw this Please DO NOT get neosporin in an eye!!! My mom accidentally did that and ended up at the doc! He told us it is VERY bad for eyes, unless it's formulated specifically for eyes!

Can you use human eye antibiotic in chicken eyes? I still have some left from when I sliced the membrane off the front of my eye with the paper bag. (I do NOT flip open paper bags now. That was way to painful and took 6 months to heal fully).

The antibiotic is still good, the doctor just had given me a lot of it, and I have a tube left somewhere. I'll put it in my kit if I can use it on them.
