Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

That looks like "bully eye" to me. Generally it is a bacterial infection.

If it were an upper respiratory bug you would see swelling in the nasal areas. If you can find some eye drops she should be fine.

They call this bully eye because it looks like someone walked up to them and punched them right in the eye.

Bully eye huh? Yes, it does look like she got punched right in the face! I am hoping she just got pecked or something got in there and irritated her, hoping it's not something worse.

I think I'll just keep cleaning it at least once a day with the saline solution and see what happens.

Just to be safe, do you think I should be keeping her separated from the other two until the swelling goes down? I have heard that chickens will peck at anything and I don't want her to get worse...or to possibly infect the others.

A friend of mine just posted on Facebook that her daughter called from Reeves Middle School in Olympia from a locked room. The school is in lockdown. Her daughter said a man was seen entering the school carrying a rifle and shouting profanities. This is all third hand information right now but I think some good thoughts could be used for those kids and teachers who are in lockdown without knowing what is happening outside their doors.

I'm not seeing any new information yet. Let's hope this all blows over without serious incident.

ETA: This just now from the mother -
"School just called school will remain on lockdown today police are with the kids inside and all other kids are being held at the private elementary school close by. All I know so far".
Yikes!! Sending prayers and good thoughts. Hopefully they find this creep soon.

Oh ok, well the only non-dairy cheese I am comfortable with (and that actually melts and doesn't taste like socks) is Daiya cheese. You might could try that :)
I did not picture you for a sock eating person. Were you lacking in fiber when you tasted the socks?

And yes, my 3 carrier monkeys will be coming along, DH as well. Better come up with a really good costume so they don't recognize you or you'll have 3 excited kids clambering for you!

I would keep her seperate until you see marked improvement. If you have any oxine, you can rinse with an oxine rinse too.

Thank you very much. I think so too. I think she is unhappy being away from them, she keeps running toward the coop/run and trying to get in and makes a TON of squaking when I put her in her own container, but I think it's for the best.

Well it seems he may not have actually entered the school. I don't know for sure. But they are keeping the kids inside the schools all day today with police officers stationed at the schools until they actually locate the man who was seen walking towards the school. Just bits and pieces of information or misinformation - sounds like it's under control.

ChickieLady, I haven't given out my address because in years of perusing BYC, I know of many incidents where people shipped live or ??. inbetween things, that could scare the daylights out of me(or I wouldn't be allowed to keep.)

. Actually when I first moved here I did get mail addressed to my name and W.S. & state (you know that), no street address at all. Of course WS was only 3100 people then. Nowaways IF someone puts the CORRECT street address - the mail persons take it to people across the street or two streets away. I get the next door neighbors stuff alot but, at least I walk over and bring it to them.

Forty-three years with same address and the PO still can't find me.

PS how great another girl baby joins the world -
