Hello Washingtonians!!!! I live here in Walla Walla kinda new to this thought i'd try and meet some people here to help out along the way. the grandson and I have built a new coop. I will be posting picks after we get it painted. Very excited to be able to talk with people doing the same thing as I.
One thing I am haveing some problems with is finding some straw, dont know to many people , just wondering if any of you out there might be able to help me in finding some...thanks again for adding me to your group.

It looks like everybody had a fabulous time today!! We were in Mill Creek today to pick up an engine for our daughter's car and I was going to have DH swing into Monroe on our way back, but it took longer than I expected to get the engine pulled and into the truck and we had to get home to the critters. I just wanted to say hi. And maybe look at chicks.

I just want to say thanks again to all of you who helped talk me out of the cheap hens I found yesterday. All 11 of the chicks that I brought home yesterday are doing great! They settled right in and are cheeping away in their little brooder. The little crested bantam that I got is the friendliest out of the bunch. She is very curious, just sits there and lets me pick her up. Not sure what she is going to be for sure, but my best guess from snooping around the net, is Golden Laced Polish. That was the closest thing I could find with chicks that color. My only concern is that I read that crested birds don't do well in a flock without another crested. Maybe I should grab another one? Any insight would be great.

Just watched Breaking Dawn Part Two with DD, now I better get to bed so that I get up in time for church.
I think if they are all raised together they should do fine. If her crest gets too big though, you might have to tape it up with that pink hair tape so it can see to eat and drink. Mostly if it's a girl, I think their crest poof out all around and a boys kind of goes back somewhat. I am not a polish expert, but that is was I have noticed. I think others on here have a few, so maybe they can chime in here?

OMG Today was so much fun at the WFF show! It was so great to so so many of you guys again and to meet so many others. I wish I could have stayed longer but DH and the older boys were getting wrestles and we had plans for the kids to do a whole bunch of fun stuff! I completely forgot to go look at the scarfs, GGRRRRR, I wanted on so darn badly. Also the food there..... WOW is all I can say about that. The food was great! It's funny because apparently my body is not used to all this healthy food and I hate to say it, but I was worried about how everything would taste with all the "crud" not in them, but everything was amazing. Even my kids LOVED everything and that does not happen often. One of my DD's (Rylaya my "look a like") love CR's road kill so much so took it apon her self to go to him, thank him and let him know how much she enjoyed it! When we first got to the show (after we climbed the fence to watch the drift cars on the track) I mentioned to DH that he would be happy to know that I did not bring a box... He was confused, I explained that it ment I was not bringing home any chickens. Then I regreted it, because I found a Splash Ameraucana rooster that was for sale and I mentioned that I wanted him and DH told me to buy him..... CRAP!!!!! I had no way to get him home so he stayed there. Big Boo! Then we were over looking at the Orpingtons and DH say the HUGE roosters and said he wanted one of those. Man I really should have brought boxes after all.
Yes she did. There was also another young man (boy) in a red and black shirt who also came and told me the same thing! !!! If only they knew!!

That was my son Nicholas :) I was surprised he went over to you. he was really enjoying it and i told him the name of it. His response was 'my enjoyment of this meal just went down 60%'. Then he had seconds. my daughter also liked it. i think i can figure out how to make it :) or something similar anyway.

Hi Guys

. Had a great time today at the show... Sorry to those I didnt get to chat with... my kiddos were so excited they were pulling me in all different directions trying to pick out which type of chickens they NEEDED to get. LOL..... Natalie wanted to thank Hallerlake, VF and CL for her eggs. We set them in the bator tonight. She cant wait to candle them on day 7. On a sad note I came home to find my very first chicken Henny Penny dead in the middle of the yard.( she would have been 2 next month. She was my best layer. Not sure what happened. She was at the door this morning getting petted and getting her share of the scratch. So I'm at a loss for what happened.

I somehow didn't meet CL or VF today.
That's cuz I saw you first :)
that's nice..so you were intentionally avoiding me? ;)

The girls and I enjoyed the show yesterday. I only wish we could have stayed longer. We brought along their aunt who started taking pictures of all her favorite birds. That's how it starts, I warned her!

Unfortunately, this morning we also lost a favorite girl-- sweet, gentle Halloween who made such a great fair chicken last August. What the hell?

Which reminds me......

Does anyone want two lovely Sumatra hens? They have never laid for us, and they pick on our banties just a bit too much. We are near Rochester.
