so I picked up a hanging feeder from Wilco yesterday, and I put it out in the coop this morning, and you would've thought I threw a pack of coyotes in there or something with how bad all my girls freaked out. What a bunch of

!!!
I got some hanging bird feeders (for wild birds) at the thrift stores and use them for the older chicks..they can't get their feet into them and eating from a hanging feeder preps them for hanging waterers as well that swing and sway. I also introduce smaller nipple waterers when I can.

Family is where things have a tendancy to get very raw and honest. I am not an elder in my family by anymeans, but when a favorite Auntie of mine told me of her plans to leave her very nice husband for VERY selfish reasons.......well......I didn't bite my tongue one bit to tell her about her self. Now, I won't hear from her for another year or so, but it had to be said. With my family, there is a lot of negativity, and that's really the base of it all. There's no hoping for a future with 'em, no cup is half full. I get warned about walking in the rain, even when it's sunny out, if you know what I mean. I just don't want so much negative thoughts around me or my children.....
CA, my parents moved to the midwest for my fathers profession (foundry work) but his family took it as a personal issue. For years my mother and I were ostricized (sp?) and as a teen I was allowed to visit but I was a "guest" not family. As an adult I went to a family reunion for my father's mother's family. My dad's sisters and brothers were also invited. One sister showed up and 3 of her 4 kids, but other other family from our side showed up. My cousins and their kids all ignored me and my sons, and I got to talk to family I had never met before. I drove 4 hours form Seattle to Lake Oswego to go. Talk about rude family. I have since shut them out of my life. I talked to my mom about it and she understands and supports my decisoin. My dad still tried to get me to reconnect, but I won't allow them in. Instead, I have chosen my current "family" to include some wonderful friends (over 10 years now) and some new friends (I hope) on here.

Here's to our BYC family!!!!

Ahem;
Once I saw a "sloth" of bears chase a "chattering" of starlings away from a kill made be a "leap" of leopards while a "skulk" of foxes comtemplated a "charm" of hummingbirds who were abiding a "siege" of herons during which time I reveled in a "murder" of crows chasing a "convocation" of eagles because of the "unkindness" of ravens took no notice of ME.

Great. Seriously though...ew. What can I do to make her stop? She's a brat to everyone but doesn't hurt them. She lays an egg almost every day. She loves to be held and carried around, even by my 4 year old. So....I guess I put up with my bi chicken.
Choices....
Choices....
Choices....

To keep and be amused, or......?????
