Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

About teaching the older birds.... First take away there current water source. Second, use a treat they love and hold it near one of the nipples. With one finger, or the other hand maybe, tap the nipple to let water out. They'll come for the treat and see the water. Don't let them get the treat too easily, try to make them go for the drop of water. Repeat it a few times. As soon as one gets it, they'll all follow suit. I used the treat idea several times and one of my girls started thinking that if I was in the pen she was due a treat every time she pecked the nipple. It was a pretty cute trick to show my DH!!

More fluffy butts on their way to my house. My dear pregnant friend can't get her own chicks this year; she's due in 4 week with her first biological child (they thought she couldn't get pregnant and they've adopted 2 children) and her hubby said no. I offered to brood them for her since we borrowed Renee's huge brooder and he said she could! She's stopping by Reber any time now to pick up her chicks and bring them by.

You could even pick me up on the way!

Of course that's the day the hired hand is here, so I'm not actually free, darn it.
It runs three days.

Road trip anyone?
Yep that's on Thurs, Fri and Sat this week. It will also happen on April 11, 12, 13, and 14th. Best to go the 1st day or two for best selection.

so is there anyone that I could email a half dozzen pics to that could load them on here for me? I am worse with computers than I am with incubators.

I have seen the posts about nipple waterers and I have to say I would not go back to regular watering. It is a lot of work to keep a thousand cornish cross in clean water, and the nipples are a real time and back saver.

I have an appointment on Thursday morning, but otherwise, I'm free.
