With the election coming up, we'rs being assaulted on all sides with politics. I'm up to HERE with politics.

Me too, and already sent in my vote anyways....I am sick of the election, bickering, finger pointing & argueing.

So, spent a lovely morning scrolling over the bad hurricane we had here several years ago.
I thought wind speed was tops at 120, but the clippings I have read said top wind speed was 137.

Glad I was not here for that.
We got here the following year.
But my family was here, and Brother in Oly & another in Enumclaw had no power for a week.
They brought their freezer stuff to Mom & Dad's in Elma...Mom & Dad did not loose power despite being closer to the coast.
We had another big spruce fall here & creamed an entire mobile home that was at the foot of the driveway here.
The tree fell longways on the trailer...and I guess it burned after that.
Crud is still seen down there..bits & peices of kitchen counter and glass............

That article was about people in all walks of life in many government agency's their actions and consequences costing us all.
That article is just another example of how it effects all of us in regards to property taxes.

Here is a bit of insight into my world I've had to deal with over the years in regards to that..............

I don't know how many jobs I've done over the years for people whom are forced to sell.
It wasn't because they bought a house they couldn't afford the mortgage payment on.
It wasn't because they knew going in the house was more than they could afford trying to keep up with others.
No, they were responsible.

Yet, down the road many many years later as the property taxes went up they couldn't afford to live there anymore.
One of the worse ones I had was out in Fall City.
Just a great couple who had a great big garden and took really well care of there property and house over the years but like any house it had some issues over the years that needed taken care of before sale.
As I got to know them their story came out and it broke my heart.
If I was rich I'd have paid all their taxes for them.
It just hurts so bad to see people live in homes for 20 to 30 years then realize due to no integrity of the tax money spent they can't afford to live in the home they love.

Actually the Pagan Holiday you mention was the festival of lights..and celebrated the Winter Solstice, when the sun reached it's furthest point and began it's reyurn to longer daylight.
This is why there is lights involved with the Christmas Holiday, and yes, the two have been jumbled together.

I agree ! That hurts bad !!!!!!!!!!! That reminds me, I have taxes to pay on the CA home in a few days.
Just paid the taxes for here last month.............

The taxes just keep going up, and I see no improvement in Govt at all.

One thing really upsetting, is the foreclosed homes.
They are everywhere..people forced into foreclosure and leave these empty homes to rot.
The property next door to us is just such...and has been vandalized to the point where not much is left.
Supposibly the bank (Chase) owns it, but they do nothing to care for it.
I think it would have been wiser to work with the owners to help them keep the property, instead of forcing them out only to have the home trashed.
How stoooooopid is that ?

Well, now I'm mad all over again.
Just thinking of all the foreclosed empty properties & displaced families gets me riled.
I hear we will have nasty rain & high winds today, so I better go batten down hatches here.
