Wow, That would be interseting to deal with. We had unwanted people on our property to!
Last night we had to men show up at our door after dark. One with a flashlight, they were asking about the house on the front of our property right off of the street. I talked to them for a few minutes and then asked them to leave. We were not to happy to find out that they had been walking around our property with out us knowing about it and had been looking into my chicken coop and everything after they had been searching the house on the front of the property.
Then today around 12 one of them came back and I really did not like that. Coming back when there is a possibilety that I was home alone or that no one was here! I got my CPL the other day and so I have been carrying which made me feel a lot better. And trust me I made sure he saw what I had. He asked questions like "are you home alone?" to which I said no my BIL is here which was a lie no one was here, then "do you have large dogs?" I said, "yes two very big dogs, great dane and mastiff and they hate strangers on our property". He then was talking about being in some sort of construction and that is why he was asking about the house (lastnight they were asking if it was for sale) but that he was not looking to buy it, as he was telling me that he carried his tools every where with him in his truck he walked over to his truck and opend the back gate (had a canopy on it) which was facing us, to so me his tools, right away I put my hand on my gun and made sure I was not in between him and his truck. He asked if we would want him to do any work on the house for us and I told him to give me his info so I could give it to DH (and the cops if need be) Then I asked him to leave, as he did DH just happend to call and the first thing I said was "hurry write this down" and gave him the license plat number. I also told him the make, moddle, color and year of the truck everything we would need for the cops, again if needed.
This was a very unsettling situation.
You are much nicer than me!! About the time he started asking questions hewould have been looking right down the barrel. With the statement would you like a demonstration or will you be leaving now!!! That would be followed by a call to law enforcement.
But out here where they have to pipe daylight to me things are different. A dead man tells no tales and coyotes are a poachers best friend. (so I am told !!!!)

How about a sign on the front door --

Our door is locked. Not for our protection, but for yours.

Or...

If you want to know my position on gun control, break in and find out.
My son has a sign that says " Do to the price increase of Ammunition, NO warning shots will be fired" !!!

Blue does not ever breed true, Andalusion blue that is. Blue x Blue will ALWAYs result in 25% splash, 50% blue and 25% black.

For your earlier question, if you are wondering what to breed to black to get blue, you will need splash. Splash x Black = 100% blue.

If you breed a solid splash (not spangled) to your spangled black, you will hatch all solid blue chicks, but some of them will be split for mottled/spangled. I have not worked with spangled, but have worked with mottled, assuming the pattern variety works the same.....

Breed the blues back together (no sure way to tell which are carrying the spangled gene though, also referred to as "split") and if you do multiple pairs, you should eventually pair two that are split for the mottled gene and have some chicks hatch blue/spangled, but you will also have splash & black chicks from these breedings. And again, not all will hatch spangled, you will and have splits (carrying the gene, but not showing it), some solid (no spangled gene being carried).

Once you get two blue spangled parents, all the off spring will be spangled, but you will hatch BBS Spangled.
To get only Blue Spangled chicks to hatch, put a splash spangled with a black spangled. All offspring will be blue spangled.

Self-Blue, also called lavender in some breeds, does breed true, hence the name "Self"-Blue. This blue is a lighter color with no lacing, I would consider it more smoky in color. Don't know of any other color called smoky, so wondering if they are referring to this in your quote? Old English Self Blue and Self Blue Belgian Bearded D'uccle's or Booted Bantams (same as d'uccle but no muffs and beards) .........are the only breeds I can think of that have been in the standard for a very long time. But lots of new breeds now have this variety as a new project color, including Ameraucana (both bantam and LF), bantam cochins (not sure if anyone has these in LF yet), Japanese, Orpingtons, Australorps, Araucana....these are all breeds I have heard of folks working this color, in solid form. The Coronation Sussex is a Columbian x Self Blue, so that is another project using the self blue gene....or the Porcelain d'Uccle's are mille fleur (spangled) x self blue....

HTH!!!
