Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

We are up to 5 chicks.... They are all BBS JG from CL... Funny they are all out of the same eggs... They are running around like crazy. Should I be worried they are running all over the unhatched eggs?

Hey guys! I just set up my farmette page on FB. It is a work in progress, but would love it if you would check it out and maybe "like" it.

I think we're driving by CR's exit. *waving "Hi"*

We got a very late start heading to Lincoln City, OR today. It was evening before we left. I spent a majority of my day working in the big girl's run. Woke up to discover it had completely flooded overnight. I scooped all the water and muck out. What a process! Looks like I have digging a trench on the upper side of the run as a high priority item on my to do list when we return. The water runs off the roof of the run, then down into the run. Bummer. I ended up dumping a bag of pine shavings in the run after I had it cleaned up. I hope that helps keep the girl's feet dryer than the plain dirt.

I found it took 2 offerings before my girls really went for it. It has to be rather thick like oatmeal, but not watery. They didn't touch the watery feed I put down once. So, I put some dry feed in a bowl, add a little water, watch it soak up the water, add a little more feed, then a little more water until I have as much feed damp/wet as I want. I also used chicken scratch (crack) to get them over to the feed, then dropped some on top to get them to peck at the wet feed, then they just kept feeding.

Hope this helps. It might take a couple of tries with wet feed before they "get it" that this is now the food source.
are you doing the "fermented feed" recipe with the ACV to get the full probiotic effect, or just wetting the feed with water? My girls have loved the fermented feed so far. I am so relieved
and feel it will be good for them and less waste.
