Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

It's a tiny blip for a gallon, a little bit more for 3 gallons, and a good long glurg for 5 gallons. Does that help?

Yeah...I don't measure.

OK, OK, so your precise scientific measurements don't translate very well. Can you be more specific??? JK, I'll wing it also.

CENTRALIA, Wash. (AP) — The Washington Transportation Department says a radar-triggered camera will start snapping photos of speeders next Monday in an Interstate 5 construction zone in Lewis County.
Agency spokeswoman Alice Fiman says the automated camera is being used in an effort to slow drivers and improve safety.
Travelers will see signs that warn "Speed limit photo enforced." A small SUV parked near the highway will monitor speeds in both directions. The camera will photograph the rear license plates of speeders. Offending drivers could find a $137 citation in the mail.
The Transportation Department says the cameras were used in two work zones on I-5 south of Olympia in 2008 and 2009. Most recently, the cameras were used on Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass.

WOW!!! Who forgot to turn off the fan and sprinkler? The rain and wind keep waking me up from my happy drug induced nap! Hope everyone is enjoying the day inside!

My sis left yesterday with my 2 year old niece. She was such a huge help but at the same time having a little one running around was tough too.

Went on my second big outing for the week! Yesterday I was able to see my twins last big performance of their high school cheer careers! Then the icing on the cake was all of their friends coming over to check on me and hug me! I love them kiddos! However my outing was cut short with a doctors appointment to have my bandage changed......borrrrring! Then I was so exhausted it was bedtime & med time!

Have a great day everyone! Happy hatching!!

So glad you are getting around a bit. Do you have help now? I had a major surgery on my leg and remember well how frustrating it was to try to hobble around and do simple things like get a cup of coffee from point A (kitchen) to point B (couch).

This weather is truly horrid- has anyone checked how much rainfall we've had? I know we had almost 6 inches in a rubbermaid tub that was sitting in the yard. We also had hail bigger than peas here today- and it was funny watching the hens running for cover- and all trying to fight for the space under the utility trailer. I just checked KIRO news- they said only 1/3 an inch of rain- was that INSIDE the newsroom? Cuz I clearly had a LOT more than that!

I'm pretty bummed about the hail - I planted 100 tulip bulbs in the fall, which had just began to open up, and the hail beat the crud out of them.

We were all getting rather stir crazy here, so we headed out and ran some errands, and then DH decided it was a good idea to go to Red Robin. My son can eat more fries than anyone else I know, and since they have unlimited Gluten free fries, it was actually a bargain to take him out to eat.

. I am pretty sure anyone who has ever known a 15 year old boy, could probably appreciate the FACT that "all-you-can-eat" places- are real budget savers for boys with hollow legs!

OK, so I followed the advice that some of you gave for the wet feed. My chicks won't touch it. I don't know if I did something wrong, or if I have weird chicks. None of them ate it, little or big. The only one who picked at it a little was my Silkie roo, but even he didn't eat much of it.
Sprinkle a little dry feed on top to get them pecking at it. They will figure out it is food, then watch out

Well I'm happy. My remaining 9 big girls laid 8 eggs today! And there's still daylight out there. I never count before dark, they've been known to surprise me a few times with a late egg or two. I already cant wait for my pulleys to start laying. The first batch is getting big! They are from 8-9.5 weeks old. I also got rid of that cuckoo I mentioned yesterday, my friend whose other chicks I'm brooding right now is going to take that one too!
that's an awesome day's haul! My hens didn't do as well today, but I only checked the eggs once, so maybe they laid more after we checked. I got 7 today, from 11 layers.

We moved the mama into the big coop with the babies, but I am still concenred that we don't have a way for little chicks to get in and out of the hen house- except a big fall and a one-way trip to the outside world. We are going to try to get that fixed tomorrow, but hope none of the chicks will fall out the door tonight! When we went to move them, we found another one had fallen on the ground again and was freezing. Good grief- I can see why folks build coops on the ground floor (pun intended) !

Me, I'm having "Flowery before the Rain" jasmine tea and Ak-Mak and wild mushroom brie, perhaps a little late for proper tea but I didn't get back from shopping until after five and had to deal with the sheep, the bantam, and pick up two eggs that weren't there at 2pm. And when the food settles a bit I still need to go out and check my pregnant cows.
That jasmine tea sounds wonderful! I'll take mine with a smidgen of honey, or maybe you'd like to join me for some rooibos with fresh grated ginger in it? I make it in a french press.

With all this talk of tea, I must show off my new $2.99 acquisition from Goodwill. I've been looking for a replacement kettle since I left mine on the stove a few months ago and burned it up, warping the bottom. The one DH bought at Big Lots had such a flimsy bottom it made metal pinging noises when it heated up- not a proper kettle. This one has a nice thick base

I'm off to make some rooibos- can't decide if I want to make a batch with those tiny rose buds for the rose petal flavor, (still have some in freezer from Oly Co-Op's bulk section) or fresh grated ginger. Love hot tea on a cold day!

We now have 6 baby chicks... I thought I would post a few pics!

They are all BBS JG from CL I think I have 5 blacks and 1 splash so far....
