I just put her in a box and closed the top to keep her still. I massaged her crop downward and tomorrow I'll get grit first thing in the morning and recheck her crop. Anything else that helps a blocked up bird?
Ok, I didn't read the whole thing. Yes I would say she is sick with something. have you tried treating for Cocci? With Corid?

No, not yet. What makes you jump to cocci? I really do want to help her! I have Corid and in the medicine cabinet. I'm not sure why Cocci now, since she's about a year old and we've had no cocci issues; just because it's damp out so much lately?

I know.... And he helps with fishing and everything.... The problem is in the fact that the chick came as a pet, vs food.....we have always had a rule that pet vs food was decided when the animal came home...and this is/was a pet..... But believe me, I will be working on DS to try to change the chicks 'designation'.......

Her poops are scant firm blackish pieces with lots of urates and water.

I may. We're down to one car, so it gets a little tricky.

Don't think that I can make this one. my DD doesn't drive that far on the freeway yet. Plus we have a benefit concert we are supposed to go to at 6:30pm. I'm just hoping that I will be up to even do that. Sorry!!!

When I go to Goodwill with my mom and aunt, we look for all of the angel figurines and such and make a nice display. Mom pretends that she doesn't know us. Last time, we found a football star bobblehead and several other memorable characters (a provocatively-dressed cat and a terribly creepy child, among others) and placed them around a Jesus. We stick to angels mostly, but some of the non-angels were just too good. We hope that other shoppers appreciated our creation.

lilfarmmomma- if you post pics of what you are looking for, I'll keep an eye out. I really like the Goodwill store by us.
It's fun to go there and just wander around. I truly enjoy recycling, re-using, and re-purposing things.

I will post a pic of the glasses tomorrow. I love all thrift stores, I could spend hours in them. I always find treasures that I would love to have, some just because and some to repurpose. Man, if I was rich, I would be in trouble.

Oh my!! That is what my 5 yo looks like almost on a daily basis. They would get along great!! One day, he was rolling around in the poop pile from us cleaning stalls. Wednesday, he was barefoot, sweats up to his knees wading in the little stream that flows into our pond. Came in covered in dirt and cut grass. Your daughter is beautiful! I miss having a little girl to dress up.

I have been following this discussion closely - thank you both. And after having kids, I like to think of myself of a sort of poop expert. But, please clarify - are urates the liquidy part of the poop that kind of sits on top of it? Thanks in advance. - Gina

I assume you're talking to me? (If you quote our posts, they'll show up like this post with the intended post you're replying to above it) Yes, the urates are the white part on top of a normal poop, that is actually the birds' urine, except they don't urinate. In my hen's case, she is expelling tiny bits of solids and a lot of watery white urates.
