Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I love beer. But unfortunately I have expensive taste and we can't afford it very often. If we're talking Miller/Bud beers, not a chance could you get me to drink it! I LOVE dark beer, ales, IPA, hefeweisen, etc...
. I will be making either pulled pork or brisket for the pot luck, and I also will have a couple growlers of an excelent beer from a local brewer that I know. it is good stuff! I will also have sun tea for the people who can't or don't like beer.
I need to look way back in the posts and find out who has said they want to come out for the processing class and pot luck

I made it to post 17808 - and then DFH called me with some news.......

Just have to say you guys crack me up and CR - I voted for you as well. So glad that Dash found a loving new home!!

So the news.......

DFH left the Army in 2000 as an E4 and recently found out he is eligible to re-enlist as an E4, recruiting, which he is seriously considering. All this comes at a time that we were going to send his union in Iowa a check and get him officially transferred to Local 612.

So, I guess we ask for positive thoughts to help us with this very tough choice.

I didn't know that! You should have gotten some beer from me when you were at my house! I make fabulous beer ;)

ETA: good beer doesn't cost anymore than cheap beer, you just get to drink half as much ;)

Well my girl is impacted. She woke up this morning and still had a crop full of what feels like grass. I'm giving her water with ACV in it, a little greek yogurt with grit in it, but she's not taking much. I wish I could get more grit into her! She just won't eat it. I'm massaging her crop downward as often as I can. She doesn't seem to be improving.

Jess -

NO MORE GRIT.

If her crop is impacted, you only want to give liquids. Grit will only add to the impaction, not help clear it. Isolate the bird, deny food, allow water with 2TBL of the bleach solution the CL talks about per gallon of water. Massage the crop often, but not too hard as you don't want to rupture it. If it is grass, you can try 2 TBL of red wine forced. This helps balance the pH in the crop as well as helping to disolve the grass.

Good luck.
