This is Luna on Valentines day, hiding behind my hubby's gift. She is only 11 pounds and seems to have vision and hearing issues along with the siezures.

Hello everyone! I have a seven week old Light Sussex that is a boy and needs to find a new home. Anyone interested in a rooster for your flock, you can have him for free. (If he's going to freezer camp, it'll be our freezer.) This picture was from a couple days ago...they are off heat now and running around with the big flock. Let me know if you'd like him, his name is Henry (used to be Henrietta!)

Christine R - thank you for the breeds info. I was hoping to hear good things about labs - thank you. Sad to hear about huskies, but I probably cannot afford a husky anyway. I appreciate you taking the time to share.

Chicken Rustler - I get the smart dog vs. dumb dog thing. Luckily we have the time and desire to properly train. It seems many in the area I live don't. It's not fair to the dogs. And it wouldn't be to chickens either. PS - you are so funny!!

Nikki1 - thank you too. Beautiful picture. Is that your coop in the background on the left? I had not considered 'herder' breeds so I'll be online tonight (and scouring craigslist).

I checked the humane society, but a majority (over 75%) of dogs available are pit bulls. I don't want to start any discussion about this breed, but I will say I was hoping for a bit more variety to choose from.

I plan on taking my time, like I did with the chickens, and have faith we will have a great home for both the dog and chickens to live a happy life. And I'll get a front seat to it all!

I posted that in jest. I was tryng to bring a smile to folks today, that's all.
The era I grew up in boys did not sew unless you happen to be in the military where you had to mend some of your own stuff, or had a Dad like mine who believed that a man should be able to mend his own clothes, cook his own meals, make his bed and wash and iron his clothes. (I guess 23 years in the military did that for him)
I like tools, I don't care what they're for, I like them and I like to use them.
The neat arraingment of things did not rub off on me though, sad to say, consequently I spend many hours looking for tools that I just laid down and can't find again. Apparently they go into a black vortex and disapear, never tobe seen again until of course I buy a new one to replace it. Then it shows up in plain sight. Yes God has a sense of humor, I think he has had many a belly-laugh on my antics.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I Love ya Mikey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You need to write, have a colume in a newspaper...you are excellent in prose & verse and capture the exact feeling...!

I put the 3 week old Silkie chicks and "Buck", the special needs cockerel, into the tractor with the other 2 Silkies today. All are getting along and being chickens. The Silkie chicks were getting trampled by the "Meat Group" in the brooder. They are already neary 2lbs at 3 weeks. Sheesh they do grow fast. I think I have decided that I will not do the x's in the future but rather go with Dark Cornish's for meat birds. I saw them at the Monroe show and liked the look and they grow at a normal rate. I got the "coop" done for the Silkie pen(really just a place to sleep and lay eggs, should have pcs in "My Coop" by end of weekend) and getting the remaining parts to finish the Silkie pen tomorrow. They should be it by the end of the weekend.
