Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

My husband called the officer that left notice on our door that it's not permitted to have chicken's in yelm city limits. He was able to quote the code that classifies chickens as livestock, but "couldn't remember" the code that says livestock isn't allowed in Yelm City Limits. And I have scowered their site with the words chicken, livestock etc anything I could think of. And can't find anything saying live stock isn't allowed. My husband will be emailing this officer again but so far nothing with the code. It's really frustrating though because we asked the home owner before buying this house and she said that we could have chickens, and our neighbor, who I'm pretty sure called saying we have chickens when the only chicken anything we've done is told him in MAY of last year that we wanted chickens. But when entering Yelm from either end and exiting Yelm from the other, there are animals everywhere :( it's really sad that I have a house of 6, my husband and I, and an 8 yr old, a 5 yr old with special needs, a 2 yr old and a 9 week old. We eat ALOT of eggs and eat ALOT of chicken. Being able to have chickens would help out a great deal with money spent on food!
Try "Poultry" maybe ?

Squab -- that word just does not sound appetizing.  Plus, how many would Himself eat in a setting?

RainWolf has kept quail - I built her a quail thingie - I have pictures if you want them.  It's not at all like a chicken coop.  I think she kept Cortunix (sp?) and/or A

Doves are very tasty, but also so lovely & make such a soothing sound I could not butcher them.

I was going nuts yesterday from seeing the two pairs of doves that are nesting in the orchard zooming around (pair bonding flights, from the looks of it): too fast for me to photograph, and the only way I'd be able to do that would be to sit in a chair and just watch them, learn their patterns, chose a good background and wait, wait, wait and I don't have TIME for that, have to finish cleaning the Wyandotte coop and getting the Blue Egg pen wired up and covered, and now they're saying it'll rain again Thursday, :tongue

Love squab, and doves. I make little pies from them.

There is one pigeon breed that can't fly much, (Texas Pioneer) and produces 2 eggs 3/4 of the year. When the babies are a month old, daddy bird looks after them while momma sets more. These get to be about 1lb at fledging. Perfect for 2 people! :drool

Those aren't the ones the tenant had, his were demons in flight- reminded me of the Wood Doves I saw in England.

Yes that's what I'm getting too :( the ONLY thing that I saw negative towards livestock was the OBVIOUS, they are not permitted to run in the streets or public areas, well my backyard ISN'T public!!!!! lol this is so frustrating :/ any one here from Yelm want to start a petition to change the law???

EDIT: really also frustrating why I can't figure out how to respond like y'all do with all the other convo's in the message :( blarg!

Your wish is my command.

(sorry for the weird framing: we are actually inside a fallen Gravenstien tree, knocked off its roots by a branch from a higher tree in the ice storm last year)
