Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hello I live in wasilla alaska and am looking for some sebas. geese. I will buy eggs mated pair or goslings please help me.... ella

I just bought 2 PBRs in Feb, love the speckled color pattern! I am glad you asked about them being the same or not cause I was begining to wonder myself. I have several different breeds of hens, australorps, gold & black sexlinks, americaunas, buff orpingtons, cornish cross, red broilers, and one very studly leghorn rooster. This year I have expanded to include some musckovy ducks and turkeys. I am excited about all of them, may be getting some peacocks next month too. I am really having a go at this farm life these past couple years. I sure get great fertilizer for our vegetable garden and the neighbors like mixing it in their compost too.

Nah, it was easy; he was perched on the low perch outside; I just picked him up, put him in the coop, shut the door, and shined my flashlight on the inside perch: He looked at it very carefully and jumped up on it and settled for the night.

Now if I can get Griz to stop pestering the Ameraucana , things should be fine, right?

Anna and I were both taken aback by how calm the new roosters are, even though Elvis, Bjorn, and the EEs were all sweet-tempered; one bad rooster makes a lasting impression.

He's a cool Dude and very mellow as far as temperament hopefully he stays that way as he gets older.

Bjorn was two- did you meet him, I can't remember if you were here before or after I gave him to Christie? Elvis is rising two, and anything but agressive to people; he doesn't like chickens bigger than he is, though. The boy I got from you (who is Prince because "purple rain") is much mellower than Ian ever was. It was funny when I picked him up last night; I had the flashlight hanging around my neck and he turned around and gave me a "oh, you" look and then settled down as if it was his favorite thing to be picked up.

Yesterday when we were transferring Diamond Dave (for his pattern and his proclivity to Jump) from Amanda's box to mine, her younger daughter walked right in front of his beak with her soft little face, and he didn't even look at her.

These things make me happy. I prefer my herd sires to have calm and philosophical temprements and an appreciation for treat foods.

I've been very grateful to finally have room to get back to raising chickens this last year. We've also got a mixed flock of layers and are working on some separate breeding pens for projects.

I got 12 eggs from my 12 layers yesterday

, and 11 eggs the day before.
Now that I found the secret nest under the fern and busted a coule hens for trying to collect a clutch in a mudhole, we're back in business!

Next- ducks for the slug-fest here. I'm thinking indian runners- and want to hatch my own or get day-old babies so they imprint.

If this rain would ever stop being so ridiculous, I could finish the pen/ coop/yard/garden projects I have going now! Literally, my garden starts had just began sprouting and were FLOATING. Next up on list- greenhouse or cold frames! When the weather man says 1" of rain fell in Seattle, I roll my eyes- because we've have 4-8 inches of rain accumulate in our rubbermaid tub sitting on the deck several times the last 2 weeks.

Thanks Velvettfog. She has had the electrolytes since day 1 with yes. I'm going to try the drops and the scrambled eggs. If she doesn't snap out of it it would be great if you could stop by to take a look at her. I will keep everyone informed!

thanks again guys!

I know this sounds off the wall and I don't know if it will work with chicks but it worked with a kitten I had that was destined to die.

Try putting it against you body and carry it around with you. Maybe a little plastic pocket around your neck and down you chest to put it in or a sling of some sort. Give it personal attention with food and drink. It may just need that extra mothering. Like I said, 14 yrs. ago I did this with a kitten that everyone rejected and she is now asleep on my bed and outlived all her siblings. It can't hurt and you know you did your best.

Usually if I handle her at all it stresses her out pretty bad. She had pasty butt pretty bad for awhile so naturally she hates me from all that booty scrubbing. I gave her scrambled egg this morning. I'm going to try some drops that were recommended if she isn't perky tomorrow. If all else fails I'll try this too. We really don't want to lose her!

So I'm at my sewing machine adding a pocket to an old bra to keep little Shirley in. My husband walks over and asks what the heck I'm doing. After I explained to him he looked at me real seriously rolled his eyes and said Babe. You've gone clucking nuts! Lol. Thinking of changing my user name to CluckinNuts. :)
