Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

We're having an indoor day today. I really want to go see my parents, they're visiting but staying at my sister's this time; DH has the car so we won't get to go to my sister's until tonight. Bummer :( We need to get the rest of school finished after lunch, I'm desperately trying to get my kids to eat their lunch so we can all have some candy!

Mostly me...I want candy. Then on to math and some down time before the craziness of this evening. Getting together with my sister is wild; I have 3, she has 5 kids...so there's 8 lovely children under 8 years old.

It's fun, but busy!!

Quote: I will be posting when I buy my Meat birds, and then the classes for Freezer Camp 101, will be held roughly 8 to 10 weeks later. We will hold one on a Saturday and the other on Sunday. This past year I found that it was easier for some to have different weekend days to come to the class. I have found that a number of children seem to be very interested in the process, and are willing to watch.

I'd like to come to them this year even if I don't have birds to process. If some of the freeloading hens aren't laying then, they may be canidates though.

I've seen that done that with JP-5 when I was in the Navy. Someone brought in a bucket from draining the overflow cells on one of our F-14s. They were using it for their matches and cigarette butts until the supervisor got on them. Of course some of the stuff I saw done in the Line Shack was pretty stupid now that I think back on it.

I think it's the same concept. He showed me how you shake the top page and it looks (kind of) like the bird is flying up his nose. What will my kid think of next....

Oh... gotta share the boy's pumpkin that he carved all by himself. Not too shabby for a 10-year-old. He did a better job on his than his momma did on hers! And he was finished before me, too!

Now that he's earned his Cub Scout whittling chip, he can't wait for opportunities to practice his carving skills.

CR... does this resemble a certain origami figure you may be in possession of?

Tell him I think that is an awesome Yoda!

Did you see Disney bought Lucasfilm? Some of the pics of Disney chars dressed as Star Wars chars was to cute.

My husband and son were talking about that. My son is SO EXCITED there's going to be a new movie. Now that he has something to look forward to in the years ahead, I have a feeling the Star Wars phase is not going to go away...

My kids will probably never speak proper English. Talk like Yoda, they will.

I guess none of my oldest's favorites have gone away anyway... he's still very much into trains, LEGOs, along with Star Wars. Well, maybe one obsession has - he's not the Spiderman freak like he used to be. And, the last couple of years has brought about a love for planes.

Have any of you ever chased a train? It's crazy the things we do for our kids. My oldest son is incredibly obsessed with trains. Check out the photos I took of an old steam engine we chased through Auburn, Kent, Maple Valley and back through Auburn again quite a while back. http://www.flickr.com/photos/imaginationgarden/sets/72157627048526224/ The day we did that I thought we were crazy to spend an entire day chasing a train! But, my kids had so much fun doing it - I'd do it again just for them. I didn't post the pictures online of my kids with it, even though we got some great photos of them with the train in the background - or the funny pictures of my kid and other train chasers with a sign "Do not enter" in the foreground. They followed an older train buff into an area they weren't supposed to be in. Yes, we got them out of there, but not before snapping photos. I killed my camera that day - accidentally smacked it against the vehicle as I hopped out to get more shots of the train.

Can I freeze pumpkin on the shell? We have too many carved pumpkins for the girls to eat right away. We carved them yesterday, so the meat is still pretty fresh. Can I cut them into chunks, wrap the chunks up and freeze them?

Also - what is the best way to store uncarved pumpkins?
