Good morning! Did you happen to crack open the egg that didn't do anything to see if it is fertile? I know the cock is doing his job, but I don't know if hens can be infertile and still lay. I need to make sure I'm only sending out eggs that are fertile! Oh, and what number was written on that egg? Thank you.

Remember YOU are in control THEY can't feel the pain. Let your pain be your guidance. Some pain is OK and needed . But it should NEVER hurt that bad. Excess pain is your body telling you that you are damaging it!!!!

Went to the Oregon Spring Poultry Swap today. Had a blast. Met some more peeps(mostly Oregonians) and got some chickens, 7 to be exact. A Splash Silkie hen, 2 Salmon Fav pullets(9 weeks, Cloverleaf's line), and 4 2-3 week old chicks(1 Rhodebar, 1 OE, 1 Wheaten Marans and 1 Buff Fav). And I gots 2 "no mess" chicks for my DW.
It was a piece offerin. I tried to talk him into some more chickens.

Quote: Not a good beginning for me. Went to bed about 2am and when I awoke I was wide awake. No slumber groggyness, wide awake with plans for a new coop running through my 3 brain cells.
Could not even think about laying down again. Maybe a little later my couch will call me!

#3 son will be showing up this afternoon if plans go as planned. But you know that old saw; the best laid plans of mice and men, etc, etc.

Yes I went to the Or swap. I felt it was a VERY good turn out. The weather was great (yeah I got a little pink from being given a very nice spot outside (and I'm serious I probably had THE BEST location). I only brought home 2 chickens. Two VERY nice roosters if I do say so myself. One is a B Fav from CLoverleaf. He was shown and did well at Vancouver and then a nice BLRW cockerel. When Jeanine and a few others looked at him and said how awesome he is I figured I done good.

I also managed to find Oscar My'Yer a new home.

I didn't manage to find a new home for the hanging planter.

Or the new yard flower.

The leaves are on springs so they wave in the breeze!

Silkie coop. Even though when we got home last night and went to check on the chooks I discovered There was a late night crowing contest in the barn. Seems another of my silkies is starting to crow. So now to decide who will stay and who will go!

I

After 28 long days I have had my first batch of eggs hatch. I am the proud mommy of 10 little call duck babies. My daughter got to watch the first 2 hatch which was really neat. This was my first time hatching eggs and what a neat experience.

One: I'm having trouble getting the Little Giant incubator tp stabilize at 99.1: I can have 98.5 but the next stop is 103.4, any suggestions? Help? Does the fact I'm running it dry and empty make a difference?

Also, I'm by way of being forced offline for a transitional period by something very wrong with the start-up sequence of my seven-year-old computer. We're going to back it up today (or rather DH is, I'm still getting new eggs and chickens where they belong) and I'll get an account going on my husband's machine, but I am displeased.
