Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Good evening peeps!

Aren't we lucky to have this weather?! My mood disorder doesn't stand a chance against the warm and sunny days.

Another helpful thing is that one of my shipped egg Swedish flower Hen chicks hatched out - boy? Girl? Gah, probably a boy with my luck, but still. Pretty little gray and cream colored baby.

I stole 2 of the 11 eggs under the Pilgrim goose and her gander (BOTH sitting on this mega-nest they've got going on) and stuck them in an incubator. I figure there is at least a little hope they might hatch, whereas no hope with that many eggs under the geese. These 2 were poking out from behind her. I had no idea the gander would nest with her, it's pretty sweet. When she starts picking at the nest, moving straw, feathers, pebbles and whatnot around, he lifts whatever part of his body is in the way then settles back down. They both do the little body sway thing to settle onto the eggs, so cute!

Got my scooter mostly washed up from the winter grime today, and it's about time. Need to ride whenever possible, and I've been getting jealous watching all those folks on two wheels buzzing by. What a joy to ride in warmth!

Take care, all.

I wanted to know if you knew of a good pilgrim goose breeder in WW. My grandmother might be interested.

Nice Iris- mine aren't in bloom yet, but they'll likely be over before memorial day, I don't know what we'll take to the cemetaries.

no conflict with each other. the others can be found on a social site.  Even so, I still come here daily. I still like our forum here and wish and hope that the  cause of the exodus can be remedied to everyone's satisfaction.

All I know is the thread was closed for two days and people left. That led me to believe there was some sort of conflict between members.

No, not at all. And it is really not safe to talk about this here.

Got the last batch of chicks out of the brooder so have room for another few... Thinking of heritage breeds. Haven't heard from the person whose list I'm on for chicks, so anyone have any? I'm looking for Marans and Cream Legbars but also interested in heritage RIRs, Dorkings, Jersey Giants and.... what other breeds are good for this area? Leaning toward naturally broody, good mothers, roosters that aren't too aggressive.

I am incubating Black Copper Marans (Wade Jeane) and Barnevelders. I am trying to find hatching eggs at reasonable prices and I am willing to hatch eggs for people if they have eggs but no incubator. I don't want "backyard mix" eggs so they need to be a specific breed but I am not particular about what breed eggs I hatch as long as there is a market for the chicks. I can't afford to keep too many chickens.

Good thing Kayla was there! Give that girl an extra hug! (bad Tucker, bad Tucker)
When we were driving home yesterday, passing Oly, I was thinking about you and Kate. Wish I could have talked DH into a couple of extra stops! I'd love to see your setup some time and I always enjoy seeing Kate. That little doeling is having such a tough time!
You guys seem to get out and about quite a bit! You're welcome to stop by if you can catch us at home we always seem to be on the run chasin the girls around town doin soccer and school stuff.

My Golden Laced Orpington eggs came from the UK today and only one was cracked and that one was the only one that looked like the air cell had detached. I hope these hatch!!

On another note: I am going to be placing an order with Ideal soon and I'm not purchasing enough so there will be extra males in the box. Will anyone want them for free??? PM me if that sounds like something you're interested in.
Good luck and happy hatchin
Getting really frustrated, we wrote this Grant guy, on April 21, and then again on the 25th asking if he had received our email, asking to reclassify chickens as pets so that we could have chickens in Yelm city limits. My husband as called his office number NUMEROUS times, and we can get this guy to respond or answer his phone. I'm really upset by what seems to be this mans work ethics!
Hang in there and be a pain in his pasty butt! He can't hide forever!!
My Chick's came today!! I ordered the from mypetchicken.com, and went with the assortments. I got 5 "Brown Egg Layer's" and 3 "assorted Silkie's" I can't wait until they grow up enough that I know what they are! I know two of the Silikes are buff, but the third I "think" is going to be white. Not sure.

This is one of the buff silkie babies.

Now we just gotta finish their coop!!! Good thing the weather has been so great.
Very cute! Better hurry they grow quick!

Hope you guys got it all done! it's lookin great! BE CARE-FULL!!!!
I don't know what happened but it is disappointing that there would be that much conflict between people on a forum where the intent is for people to share ideas with each other. I know my initial impression was that some people were rude and arrogant but that is not reason to miss out on all the positive benefits from being a forum member.
Very disappointing!!!

Hi There Lutefisk!
Congrats on your littles!  The person to check with for JGs would be Chickielady.
Hope you've been enjoying the great weather.  By any chance have you stopped into the greenhouse near the Brem. Airport, I think it's called Brothers.  I was there the other day and it was like icing on the cake of this beautiful weather.  All they need is a few chickens!  :)

ETA:    Lyn A. in Gig Harbor/ Key Pen. has BCMs.

Carolyn, thanks, ill ask Chickie since she's not too far from me. Haven't been to Bremerton lately but I'll check it out next time I'm up that way. I don't know how to get in touch with Lyn in Gig Harbor, hopefully she'll see this and PM me if she has anything available.

I am incubating Black Copper Marans (Wade Jeane) and Barnevelders. I am trying to find hatching eggs at reasonable prices and I am willing to hatch eggs for people if they have eggs but no incubator. PM me if you want to sell any chicks.

I have BCM or Blue Copper eggs or chicks. I live in Carnation.
PM with prices and and availability.. Carnation is kinda far but I have family in Seattle I'm due to visit and might be able to get up there in a couple of weeks (after the wedding craziness).

I have heritage Jersey Giants. The JG are mild tempered and my Blue is a very good flock protector.  It appears I will have a rooster or two available in a few weeks. would you be interested in one?
Maybe - if i end up with JG hens. I'll let you know.
