To heck with that.  But we're way off topic.  Anyone else still setting eggs or am I the only crazy one?

I just set 16 cream leg bar eggs shipped from Texas. My Bredas are ready to move to the new coop and my 5 week old cream leg bars will move into the gothic ark (lol).

Thanks for asking- I'm pretty much down to my baseline banged-up-ness (when you start lifting 5 gallon buckets full of milk replacer as soon as you're tall enough for them to clear the ground, the joint pain is old news) although I could do without the mysterious bruise on the base of my left thumb which I think I got from banging it on a table.

Now if I could only work up some spunky enthusiasm for cleaning chick boxes.

Good luck with those! Cream Legbars are like one non-standard breed that I think are really unique and hope they get recognized soon. I'm still hoping to find some decent stock and help with the process, even joined the club!

My 5 week old chicks are from lorinda-club secretary and my eggs are from Curtis, club president. I am hoping to get some nice stock to improve on what I have. I find them to be entertaining. Their personalities are funny and their appearance is quirky.

Being a club member has the nice bonus of knowing who is doing the right thing by the breed.

I just like that its a blue egg laying breed that isn't an aracauna (don't want to deal with lethal gene) or ameracauna (I've raised them, like them ok, but would like to try something else). I have always sold eggs to offset feed bill and even though I don't care about egg color occasionally a customer will.

Plus they're intriguing because of all these weird breeds people are importing they are one of the only ones that has actually stated and is working on APA acceptance, which is of utmost importance to me.

Edit: oh and I love the hens coloration, reminds me of my Crele OEG, but softer, I used to raise and I loved that color on the females.

I am so excited I have my 2nd batch of "homemade" chicks ever due to hatch mon.! 12 show quality barred Plymouth rock bantams! My 1st batch I let a broody go with 8 eggs. Only one hatched and it died immediately.

I guess you don't want weak ones in the flock though.

I see less and less point to this forum.

We lost a lot of our best peeps when the thread was shut down for Maintenance. Most have moved on to other things. Even though we are gaining some Great NEW Peeps it won't be the same for quite some time if ever. It's to bad some of the best people on the thread that really pumped up Chickens,This Thread, BYC, Get Together's, at Helping Us New Peeps and Who Are Just Great People Who Would Drop Everything to Help Anybody at ANYTIME Even if They've NEVER MET THEM!!!!!!!!! No matter what the Personal cost! Just Because It's the right thing to do. A few have been shut out and the rest (97 @ last count) have just decided to go somewhere else.
I personally like this thread I've learned a ton here, I have met Great People here and I will continue to post here (if I can). I will get to meet more Great Chicken AND Duck folks and maybe I can pass on some of what I've learned on BYC.
I think that people on both sides of the issues made some mistakes and both sides should be forgivin. I think that it would be in the best interests of both sides to let things be back as they were so this thread can be the fastest moving,best place to talk Chickens & Ducks with the Best Peeps that get together more than anywhere on BYC or anywhere else!!!

I know this probably not the best place for this So I Apologize for that. I'm not the best at finding my way around a forum but I'm learnin (slowly) but Learnin all the same!

I think the issue is there is some lurking troll that pages on people they don't like to get them on technicality. No other thread has such heavy handedness on chatting
