Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

There's a good guy in your area, used to post here.
Chickielady...... Help Me Here.... I Need his name! Have you kept in contact with him? The guy that helped several folks with building projects. I know he does Australorps and I think bred sex links using them, which would help. He may have others in the area he can recommend, too.
No clue....................unless you are thinking about VelvetFog.......but he never had Australorps that I know of.................

Kate... you're either flying low over the cascades or your wine has a lot more kick than you thought! Kennewick is over 250 miles away from you.
Hours wise, she is correct.

I'm excited, Just put in my order at ideal poultry. getting 21 chicks, and 4 turkey babies. this is my first time ever ordering chicks, can anyone tell me what to expect? i wont get them for a month. But I just am totally not sure what to expect from it.
Normally I hatch my own. Occasionally i'd buy from someone local. this time I wanted to get a few "top hat" chickens and then a bunch of surprise me. LOL
DO NOT raise your polts on shavings !
Raise them on sand, easily obtained from home depot.

Well the Sexlinks are a hatchery creation, so there is no "real thing" of them.

Here is a link to the Breeder Directory for the Ameraucana club: http://www.ameraucana.org/DnLd/BreedersDirectory.pdf

Royce Van Blaircome has some nice birds and is listed on that Directory, I don't know the others listed on there for WA.
Ameraucanas can be bought from Jean Ribbeck, E WA
alias
pips&peeps

Jean Ribbeck on that list is Pips&Peeps on here. She has very nice birds and is the club president. I've gotten silver and wheaten from her twice now. The silvers don't like me picking them up but they seem to LOVE following me all over. The wheatens are much friendlier.
Cree Farms (Seabeck) has goats and Ameraucanas also...although I have Cree Birds and while healthy and productive, they are almost wild compared to pips&peeps birds.
That may have changed in the last several years, both I recommend !!!!!!!!!!!

Mike is also a great poultry man, with several fine breeds, and the best lines.

All of these are great representatives of poultry breeders, and each one can help you find what you are after, and if they do not have it, they can more than likely show you where to get what you want.

Is Anyone In Our Group Hatching Right Now?

Will Anyone in This Group Be Selling Chicks or Juveniles In Jan., Feb., March? If so, what breeds?
I will begin in about 1 month
most will be flock relacements as I have been left with but 1 Silver Cuckoo Marans Cock, scarey !
And, I will be gathering & hatching eggs from the matings I have with the Super Crele Albertan and his daughters...F-2 breedings as it were.

That'd be this guy.
And this guy:

"Little Man" RIP
Who was culled by a "Freind" cuz he had MITES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Little Man" grown............a perfect Silver Cuckoo Cockerel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful Cockerel snuffed simply because he had mites.

I dusted the rest and they are fine & mite free.
remember, ALL BIRDS GET MITES ! They come out of the sky !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is no reason to kill the bird !
And if you feel like you MUST KILL THE BIRD cuz there is little bugs on it, then that is perfect proof that you have no business raising poultry !
And probably no business Farming in general...including butchering, or birthing, both of which are 100% part of Farm and Livestock raising.
They poop, they get worms, they need routine vermifuge treatment and in my opinion, vaccinations for diseases in your area.
They breathe AIR and get ill with too much ammonia........therefore the """DEEP LITTER""" mehtod is a bunch of POOOOOOOP and a good excuse for those too lazy to go clean after their flocks, which is necessary to simply observe their well being...spend time !

Just cleared out my grow out tractor! I will be hatching out Cream Legbar. Should have some for sale on a limited basis. Probably Breda fowl if there is interest and maybe Rhode bar.

As much as I love the Cree's they got out of poultry a couple months back (at least as far as July of 2013). Guess they didn't update their website. They were always my first referral too.
