I'm a "wanna-be"!!! I'm fairly new to chicks....just moved to Washington and waiting for my new chickies as the end of the month And searching for sewing machine and patterns to learn quilting!!! I've got the same interests.....just not the talents yet lol!!!

Hi Lisa,
I was a terrible seamstress, but find that sewing a straight line for quilting pieces of material together is very easy. I would suggest "Turning 20" as a first time because they're big pieces and it makes a great big quilt for the bed. Probably can get it free online.

the first takes after daddy! He's a mutt but pretty. Friendly, nice to the hens too.

and the EE on the right is one of the 2 possible moms.

Is the stolen egg ok? Did she actually move it to another nest box?

She actually did roll it into another nest. Baby is fine and with other chicks and mom now it looks almost exactly the same as the other EE baby.

The pipped egg hasn't hatched yet... Been pipped all day.

Thanks so much Mel! I will definitely look that up!! As I continue to dream and look at a variety of quilts I definitely feel drawn to those that don't require too many straight lines!! I once thought I could never be a successful teacher without being able to cut a straight line as well....but there are many tools to help, I'm sure I will employ those in quilting as well!!!

Oh I'm new to quilting too. You can find tons and I mean tons of patterns on the internet free. I'm taking a class from craftsy on paper piecing and love the teacher and the class. Oh in June there is a shop hop for quilters.

For the quilters in the group, remember there is a quilt show at the Monroe Fairgrounds on Saturday, and if you're planning ahead my guild is having their show at the Kitsap Fairgrounds in September. Shows are a great way to get inspired, find new ideas, and see free demonstrations.

My DP and I have done a few quilts. She has mad skillz with her sewing machine and I help with design, cutting, pressing, whatever she tells me to do as long as I don't have to run the machine
