Was doing a little research on X-Cel...  It gives me pause when all the online articles about them have to do with being sued by the FDA for selling "adulterated" and mis-labeled feed.
This was in regard to mad-cow disease and cow feed, but still....

Xcel feed is sold at drive through feed near key center. I wish they sold it in my area. People seem pretty happy with it.

Quoting myself..
I have decided against buying the Harley, as much as I'd love to have another.
For one reason: What would I do with Einstein ?
Pack him ?
NO!

We'd have to get him his own scooter and that would be more & more $$ and probably really bother his back..
I could see myself riding alone, and maybe getting into alot of trouble (  :p   )

That, and the lovely Celia Disease can rear it's ugly head at any given moment.......so I better pass.
I am sad now.
:(

You would not believe how gorgeous my Baby bro's new bike is...................I WANT ONE TOO !!!!!!!!!!!..............:hit

Well how about a Ducati instead? I can get a real good price on one!

A little bit more information on gout. In humans it is animal proteins that are the issue as they are high in purines. If it is the same for chickens then I'm guessing that feed with no animal proteins aren't the issue. But if people are supplementing with seafood or meat (especially organ meat) the potential for gout would be much higher. Again this information is based on gout in humans.

Thanks for the info. All my chicks and chickens seem to be very healthy. They eat a huge variety of food stuff so I doubt they could be getting too much of any one thing. I always keep an eye on them for any changes.

On another note, I built a chicken ladder for the coop and no one was using it. How disappointing! They were sleeping on the roof to the hen house and pooping all over it, which is very hard to clean up. Now that the babies are in the coop, they have been using the ladder just to stay away from the intimidating bigger birds. Wouldn't you know it - now everyone wants to be on the ladder! The babies got kicked down a level, but everyone is asleep and they are all getting along.

My poor 3 week old EE seems to be getting all her new feathers at once and is just grumpy and itchy and miserable. So itchy in fact she's letting me give her rubs, which is cute but I feel for her. It must feel like teething all over your body :(

My silkie chicks are feathering in now. I swear their legs started first and they looked like they were running around in to big pants for a while.

I've had constant broodies since around February. Number 8 just went broody. I'm praying that Duke has been doing his job and the eggs I'm collecting will be fertile.

Cross fingers! Got any pics of the awkward stage on your silkies? It cracks be up when they're in between.

I built an easy ladder like this. I used a pallet, removed most of the boards and nailed on 2x2's for perches. My younger birds love it as well. The older birds have another perch that they use. As they move up in rank, they move to the older bird perch.
