I wonder if they could work for earth bag construction ... because they might. And in that case I'll take all I can get.

You can get as many as you need because I am going through 3 or 4 bags a week right now. I am thinking I may already have a dozen available.

It did occur to me that I may have two roosters and one hen. That was my first guess, actually... I just don't think they are roos, though, truly. There are zero signs aside from the combs and wattles. At nearly 19 weeks I'd have thought there would at least be some crowing attempts or saddle feathers. I thought one had some long tail feathers but they all grew out the same and look like a hen's. Am I correct to think that or are there "sleeper" roosters? If so, I give up til I see an egg come out of each of them, lol.

Couple of our Roos took a longtime to crow- our RIR didn't for the longest time - until finally he blurted out one day - all the girls were even laying - so you could just have a later bloomer - we have a silkie who I believe is a roo - the other boys who are same age are crowing but not him- give it a bit - if u see that many eggs then they aren't Roos

Was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a Bantam Cochin in western WA. Looking for a bird that is annoyingly broody as my daughter and myself would love to try hatching some eggs this way.
Not picky about coloring/etc.. Just want a reliable mama


We currently have a flock of 5 hens at POL and a nice tame roo that free range from sun up to sun down on 2 acres and then are locked in tight at night in the coop.

So I thought I'd share some "cuteness" -- we recently had a Broody Hen "Diaper Deana" hatch a couple babies - she's the only hen with our ever so cute, over protective, I love you to death rooster Jr.

After all the babies hatched and started to come out - I caught him inside the house are and I was a little worried, since our other rooster could of possibly killed our other babies - I was shocked at what I saw -

I also found he freezes when a chick comes close - one even started pulling his waddle and pecks his eye and he did nothing just stayed frozen... then went back to trying to feed them.

Hahaha, I think I have a Favacauna...and a Turkacana plus one Rhodacana and a Marancana. They are all just cross breeds in my book. Trying to get some different egg colors so we'll see how it goes.

Wow, I just googled Favaucanas and they are selling female chicks for $22 each. Maybe I should start selling my Crested Maracanas and get rich! LOL

I tried to talk Chicken Rustler into cranking out FAVACAUNAS and he refused...I insisted !
If someone wants to pay $30 for a "Favacauna" then GIVE IT TO THEM ! ! !
