Been away for a few days.. Took the kids on a mini-vacation to Great Wolf lodge.

Anyway.. Chickens. Came home to a few eggs waiting for us, including this fun one:



Would be funny if it was the Speckled Sussex that laid this, but I suspect it was a Faverolles.
I showed it to them and asked whoever did it to keep doing it.. But they were being huffy with me for not getting any treats for days.

Ironically my Speckled Sussex started laying eggs that had speckles like yours when she was about 9 months old. I hope it is your Sussex!

Well maybe it is her then! We just came off our 3 month hiatus of first big molt and winter shutdown.

That's going pretty good. I just cleaned out a raised bed and am getting ready to plant peas.

I generally get one like them when a dark-egg layer puts out her first one, or has taken a long break. Regardless.... it's an EGG, Yippee!!!!
