Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

You should of seen us when we moved here it was bare dirt, and we built a house...so tools were everywhere & no way to lock them up, and the area FULL of tweakers up all night ripping off electrical & siding off mobile homes just yards away.
All night we could see their flash lights & their banging..............no cops could do anything about these abandoned property.
The banks screwed it up, and made these rip off junkies.

Yeah... I've lived in parts like those before.... Glad I got out

I've been thinking about fermenting feed too. One of these days I'll get around to giving it a try. I mix the powder from the Scratch & Peck with plain yogurt and the girls gobble it up. My girls are just pullets, but they lay like crazy on the scratch and peck. I get 4 or 5 eggs every day from my five girls. I just hope that boosting the protein solves the feather picking problem.
I was thinking about the fermented feed, too, like I keep my feed(s) in rubber maide garbage cans, even the scratch, and I want to toss some yeast in there so bad...........................so I have an alembic still, and a worm, and just need to work out a thumper....................

So the buck story. Few years ago morning in September. I'm half asleep and staggering outside with the dogs to let the birds out for free range. Dogs have run off across the field to do their thing. I'm just about to the pen and the Zeus starts barking and both dogs are rushing at me. I hear something behind me and a **** buck is coming at me head down. Dogs beat him thankfully. I'm not sure if they bit him or just terrified him but he turned and ran with them on his heals. They wouldn't come back on call. I know they chased at least halfway across the neighbors across the road then came back.

Athena has had it out for both deer and elk since then. Dummy went after a herd of about a dozen one night. I was sure I was going to be dragging her body back. She moved like a herding dog and forced them off the front of the property before coming back.

Dummy chases them to what she feels are the boundaries and stops. She was after a lone bull a few weeks ago and he kept coming back upsetting her. I didn't realise what was going on until I put her in the house and just had Zeus out. Bull came back and Zeus went to tell him to shove off but I called him back.
