Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I wish there was a notebook section we could just save this stuff under. I will try to remember.
After you are here a while, you will remember who has what & who is where...Hinatori is in Graham, WA.
Last we talked, she was infested with Silkies, LOL
And she is on here often, PM her & ask her what you want to !
You can enter her BYC name in the search box & go to her page, then click PM to send her a message

You know, writing this info down in a book would be a really good idea !

Remember, yesterday I said I got my first egg from my Chocolate Orpington? Well today I went in the coop and...nothing! I thought okay, yes, she just starting...and it IS November for crying out loud! Well my daughter let her out later when I was gone and she hopped up on a stump and started making a racket! My daughter called me so I could hear it, really funny. Anyway...TA DA!

What a treat!

Want some good pics ? the outer box surprise ! you can use anything to soften the blows from the outer box to the inner...newspaper, saw dust (warn the person you are shipping to that it is messy !) or styrofoam peanuts... the inner box II shop for my free boxes on USPS.com, make sure the inner is a beat smaller than your outter box, and try to keep shipping costs down by the smallest boxes you can use... inside the inner box is lots of padding, and a 'nest' of soft quilt batting, again, about anything will suffice One individual egg is set on the corner of this box (above) Each egg is wraped in bubble wrap, and secured so it can be easily opened. I use Priority sticks (free) on USPS .com (well, they were free) might be gone now The nest, Now pay attention: Always set your eggs AIR CELL UP in the "nest", the ones shown above I had dug through. An individual egg again Individual egg again Make sure you can ship in your area, some areas it is illegal unless you are NPIP certified and it may get more restricted thanks to last years Avian Influenza outbreak, where shipped eggs and birds DID contribute to the spread of the disease ! Some states are VERY picky about shipping eggs, or birds !
Thank you!

Hey Rod, how are your shipped eggs doing in the incubator? Candle yet? When are they due again?
mine are due on 18th.. I need to get better light to candle with..
I did try.. dropped one. I was so mad at myself. Still am.. I've been practically sitting over incubator making sure it goes smoothly. . Trying hard to not count my chickens before they hatch

Aw, sorry about the dropped one. I am so afraid I'm going to do that too so I made a makeshift egg holder... I cut an empty toilet paper holder in half and then drape a paper towel over it and gently kind of stuff it down the tube just a little... still have to be careful but Surprisingly it works great for holding the egg so I can candle. My 1st batch is due on the 17th. I'm too nervous to try shipped eggs so will be interesting to hear how yours go...

Nice! So can the eggs breathe being all wrapped up in bubble wrap and tape like that?
