Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I received my official invitation to callbacks for "The Childrens Hour" yesterday and hooray -

I don't have to be at the theater until 3 PM. That should give DH and I plenty of time to get there for a quick visit and back home in time.

Gotta go check the pantry to make sure I have all ingredients needed to make the peanut butter fudge. I'm SO looking forward to seeing birds and peeps on Saturday!

Just bring that PB fudge to my booth. I will make sure it gets properly distributed "trust me"

Dawn, since your little Frodo is the same breed as five of my crazy bantams, I thought I'd post a picture of what you can expect: a cream-colored egg. The brown egg is for size comparison, of course. The size might vary a bit too.

She's still alive this morning. That's something.
Need to keep her in a darkened room so she doesn't lay again until it's mostly healed.
She died after I posted this morning.

Oh no, I am sorry that she passed.

Quote: Yeah, it took me forever to catch up lol!
It was hard to see how sad they were leaving their girls here. And thank you, but I just figured they needed help and I have plenty of room to share.

I have really been thinking about ordering one of these. Expecialy because DH saw a picture of one that someone here posted and said even he thought it was cool! I also fallow a blog that posted a $2.00 off cupon for it....things are really adding up that I really should get one.

I do have a question, I remember at one point someone posted about a place that lets you rent chicken processing equipment. I was wondering where that place was and if any one knows if they have turkey processing stuff too? I have two turkeys that need to be ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas, I don't have a pot big enough to use as a scolding pot! That is really the only thing I need.

I know that Pierce County has a whole kit you can rent: http://www.piercecountycd.org/poultryprocess.html

I posted about borrowing the plucker from Seattle Farm Coop - but that's all they had for processing equipment.

I borrowed my MIL's big canning pot - honestly not sure it would fit a turkey though?

Sweet, thank you. I will see if they have what I need.

If not I may end up having to clean out a metal barrel and set it over our fire pit to heat the water. That will be interesting.

Can anyone tell me what I should do for a bird who was perfectly happy and flying/scratching around the yard an hour ago, but is now huddled on the back porch with her eyes closed? I picked her up and brought her inside; she lay lifeless on a towel at first, breathing and making some noises; then I roller her onto her feet and she's standing but her head is drooping, eyes closed, tail down. She just sat/lay down (like roosting) on the towel and hasn't walked anywhere. What could have happened to her? There's no blood, vent is clean and looks normal, nothing feels hard in her abdomen, crop is normal.
