Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

that is so cool! I've never seen that before. What laid that huge white one? And what kind allayed the others including the tiny one?
The little blue egg was laid by a younger Ameraucana/Leghorn cross who generally lays large sized eggs - both the little blue egg and the one inside of it were yolk-less. The Ameraucana was just finishing brooding which I suspect is why her reproductive tract was being a little goofy. The enormous egg was laid by a 3 year old White Leghorn.

Wanted to share this with you guys. The smallest egg I have ever received from my chickens turned out to have an egg within that tiny egg!
Wow never heard of that one before
I am I the only one up and moving this morning?

I have had egg within an egg once before from one of our red stars but the when it happened before the outside egg was massive and the inside egg was normal sized and had a yolk. I NEVER expected a smaller egg to be inside the tiny blue egg.

I was planning to save the little egg shell so I blew out the egg white but I couldn't get all of the contents out so I decided it was a lost cause. I cracked it open and realized why I wasn't able to blow the rest of the white out of the shell.

never having seen one in my 56 years. I grew up on a farm one of
my jobs was collecting eggs every morning.. Admit I didn't have any
between 15 and 54. Consider myself kinda a newbie with them
now thankfully we have people on here that are willing to educate
us.

Wow I didn't realize it was that rare! Unfortunately I fed the egg white and soft shell of the inner egg to my dog for part of her breakfast

.

I just never expected it to happen in the smallest egg I have ever had from my hens. Glad people found it as interesting as I did!

Sorry was out waiting for rain to stop hiding in my new greenhouse my
best friend let me have a temper tantrum about the vinyl he bought 6 ml
sitting around 4 days helped me stretch it putting it in place at the top of
the dome to meet the white tarp down to the pony wall cutting it seeming
to have enough to cover the rest..
My ladies then surprised me with the 5 eggs today already.. I scrubbed down all
cervices down today with a stiff brush and bleach water then spreading new shavings
they love to scratch in.
I had never seen a egg with a small egg find it very interesting maybe the others
may chime in if they have?
