One of the youngest chicks almost broke her foot tonight. She somehow got it caught in the door of the dog crate. Up at the top of the gate where the prongs go into the plastic and close the crate door. She was completely stuck, thankfully I happens to be out there and her her squawking. Until I could grab her I was afraid she was going to break that leg in all different directions. Doesn't seem to be hurt too bad, no blood.
A couple years ago I had a chicken catch her foot in the air conditioning unit, thankfully I was close by then also. Very scary.

Speaking of, I was looking into getting true Ameraucana hatching eggs but the seller I contacted hasn't responded. Does anyone have A Source they could possibly put me in touch with before the season gets to far along?

What's everyone up to his beautiful Thursday? I pulled a bunch of weeds and got some more boxes into the house.

Good luck with the Ameraucanas. I've been looking for some d'Anvers chicks and contacted a couple local breeders, too.

Ready for a three day weekend, woo! BF has been grilling and throwing blueberries from our second-story deck down to the chickies. A particularly brave chicken flew straight up to the railing and scared the stuffing out of us.
