Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I would but I have been having issues. The computer isn't set up in the new house yet. No difference now, we ended up hitting them with hornet killer.
ah crud the joy of moving we did ours in the fall October last year so
happy it is finished. Now it is lovely upkeep that is keeps us hopping in and out

often the double yokers are from pullets

What? You lost me there. When my SLW's started laying their eggs were gigantic and had double yolks often. They even doubt after a while into normal size eggs. These new chickens I have seem to start out with small eggs. I'm assuming they will get bigger as time goes on.

Look at these pretties!
very nice. Who laid that gigantic green one? Since February I have integrated three different groups of chickens into my flock. They are finally all together and getting along fine. They range in age from two years to two months. 12 altogether. The newest ones haven't quite figured out how to go into the coop at night. So I keep walking them up the ladder hoping they figure it out soon. They all free range in the big part of the yard yesterday and today. And I just saw the three youngest ones taking a dust bath in the area the others have chosen. And they all seemed to eat peacefully at the trough this morning. I have been very lucky that this has gone so smoothly. 12 is my maximum number so I don't plan on adding anymore for a while.

Leigti, I also have mixed ages. They range from 3 years to pullets born in March and another group in April. One of my leghorn pullets began to lay two weeks ago and the other 6 in that group are getting close. AND I STILL have to walk them into the coop every single night. Not because they don't know how or where but because they are so spoiled and I think they are afraid they will get picked on if momma isn't there to make sure they are settled safely for the night. I love that they want me but seriously! Do you think you can go to bed on your own for once????

Mine are spoiled too. My oldest ones are always the first ones to head for the roost Then the next youngest then the next youngest. maybe it's just natural that the little ones are just fighting it. They don't want to go to bed because they might miss something.
