Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Soon as the incubator gets here I am going to try about 10 eggs in it mostly green or blue
may through a few brown in but doubt it... This is really not the best time of year for chicks is it?
I really do not intend to sell any of these more of look see in what I get
I still have eggs in the incubator. Never a bad time. Lol. Although, I do worry about hatching later in the summer as we have really cold winters and want my chickens to be as strong as possible going into winter.

It's a fine time for chicks. They will be completely feathered in by the time the weather turns cold. Be careful when choosing eggs from pullets for hatching. Only set eggs that are 'normal' sized. Not super small (needs to have enough room for a chick to develop), and not too big (big eggs are usually double yolkers and egg shells don't expand to accommodate an extra chick). No bumpy or misshapen eggs either.

I am looking into containers to hold a bunch of feed. The black plastic barrels seem like a good idea. They will be kept in my garage. They seem to come with a couple different lids, a screw on lid and a metal lever lock. Has anybody out there used either type and which would you prefer? I

I think you should be fine with a screw on lid. We use the barrels for rainwater

I have Dish for tv but cable isn't even an option out here. Their lines end a mile up the road.

Our DSL is through CenturyLink as it's the only option we have. It's super slow. To download big things we take a trip down to Starbucks
