Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Silkies are a true bantam. They don't have a 'standard' size. It's why we replaced our first rooster because he was just on the cusp for size; plus several color defects.

@Hinotori my first hatch is close to 2 weeks old
would my little broody accept them?
Probably not. They are too old to recognize a hen as their source of warmth and protection. And the hen needs to have been broody for at least two weeks before the hormones are strong enough for them to take care of chicks.

They have standard size silkies in Europe. Their bantams are smaller than ours as well

My lovely red headed hens are all correctly sized. The bigger girls that I have all have the dark heads, which I'm trying to breed out.

I'm waiting for some of the other boys to finish feathering in. One has been promising since he was very young. He's going to be on the small side like his father.

Now that little jerk (head rooster) has a Napoleon complex and rules with an iron beak.
