Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

@Hinotori scary thought to have one around isn't it.. half my dogs would take after the chickens
but that would take the cake...
Momma is doing so well with her peep it is so cute to watch, she is roosting on the floor with it my egg boxes are all up
off the ground held up by bricks so the peep once out cannot get back in so eve3n though I set one
on the floor for her she roosts on the floor with it

@Hinotori her spot just now is behind the plastic garbage cans I use for feed
so I use shavings and do not usually have any back there I had to
rethink that to her a soft place each time I tired to be nice she
went somewhere else.. worrisome part I think maybe one of my
Easter's is starting to think about going broody

I put some nice shavings in a dog crate on the ground where a broody can get in

My large fowl (with normal feathers) stay out in light rain. They like hunting for worms in the puddles. They don't have a covered run but do have 120 sq ft coop for 23 birds. I've had up to 30 in there. They do get to free range and will hang out under my awning (or truck) if it starts raining harder.

My silkies think rain is the best thing in the world. If your head is wet you can see. They have half covered 10x20 runs and many of them will be out in the rain longer than they should. Never had one soak through. The top feathers mat and repel the rain. Underneath they are dry. I really do need to fully cover their runs because of their bad habits.

@Hinotori You and me my run has a one spot partially covered but the girls really do not care
if it is rain or shine but giving them the large coop they head in there if the rain gets to intense

Ah bummer. First time broodies are always a bit of gamble, especially if it's a younger hen. If you want a good broody, I've got one that I may be willing to part with in another month or so.
