Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

@penny1960
Do you have a lot of predators out in Mossyrock? Since you are so close to the lakes, are there a lot of eagles and hawks going after the chickens?
Do not have any here may be we have a great pyrenees and a german shepard outside all
the time and my runs are covered by chicken wire

See! Everyone needs silkies for pictures

I had the wrong lens on the camera for this type of picture even. Had the telephoto lens on in case some big birds came over. So I had to back up a long ways from the little girls to take the picture.
I love seeing the photos I think they are really cute birds but not the
ones for me, I could imagine my old BR would peck the heck out of them

I ended up eating that rooster last night it was excellent floured and fried it then added a little water and simmered it for about 45 minutes the breast was melt in your mouth tasted like young pheasent, legs were good to texture kind of like turkey legs very good. I just plucked his big brother he weighed in at 7 1/2 pounds at 4 1/2 months I think the other one was about 6 pounds. Is 7 1/2 pounds big for a Wellsumer barred rock cross at 4 1/2 months old? He sure seamed big and was meaner than snot

Anyone know of someone hatching welsummers or black copper marans chicks?  I am wanting to add some to my flock.

My local feed store actually has both of those breeds. I'm going to get a couple on Friday I think. I don't know if you want hatchery ones or not but the store is called the Cascade and there is one in Coosbay Oregon and Walla Walla Washington.
