Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Well the growing brat Snow got in with the chicks Marcel brought
the first time they ever where outside in their run my BF forgot to re-hook the wire
and it allowed her access she grabbed a couple not hard but would not respond respond to commands to stop
finally got her collar inside the grow out coop hauled her out corrected her quite harshly
not allowing her to go back.
She has never responded to my gown birds in such a way not sure what posses her to act that way
but does not appear she hurt them really

My arms hurt from moving stuff, but we got another rat. Female in the middle of having her litter. The more aggressive and older ninja silkies in that pen were attacking the thing while Athena had it in her mouth.

I will say that Athena is a wonderful dog. She didn't hardly blink at the featherballs launching at her face. Nor did she retaliate when one got her on accident. She knew they were trying to help.

Wow, that's scary. I'm glad they weren't hurt. The big chickens would hurt her, the little ones were easy Pickens. Kicked in that prey drive.

If you can freeze the dead babies they might be okay to give to a wildlife rescue or someone with a snake for feed. We just put poison out to deal with any rats that wander in our yard but you have fresh killed meat by hunting them. The wildlife center where I am volunteering has to buy frozen rats to feed and they can get expensive. I am sure the raptors would eat wild rats, lol.

Quote: No she is pyrenees update to that took her out to her big birds as normal
stop to feed the chicks after she stood very nice waiting for me to finish not even stepping
toward them so might be my harsh scolding as I trained over 35 years
started back in the day if they killed a bird you tied it to there neck for 2 weeks

The ravens know where I toss dead rats and old eggs. It's already gone.

The large fowl hens got the babies since silkies are never interested in them. The big girls all out fight over them.

I am kinda surprised you end up with the rats ? do any of your silkes go with your big birds?

I used to raise rats for the pet store way back when. Mine were always friendly from being handled so they usually ended up sold as pets. The fact that any rat that bit I sent to be snake chow also helped on the friendly factor. Bred for niceness

There are a few boys in with the big girls. They somehow get the 2 plus feet off the ground to roost. It's hilarious to watch all the steps they take to get up there.

The silkies have low houses. I'm thinking I need to get them raised up. The rats like underneath
