Well, then it is a hen :) My girls are exhibitionists. They let me know when they lay and one used to make so much noise I would go in and she would raise up and drop an egg so I could praise her LOL

your off I-90 right almost think we have a member in Buckley not sure she has the place or want to be as more centralized

I am sure you all know more than me, but I have tried a bunch of different brands/types of feed and the one my chickens love and do very well on is PayBack. Have any of you tried it? They have organic feeds as well as conventional feeds, waterfowl feed, etc. The Hermiston, OR plant is 800-700-2295 and the Harrisburg, OR plant (organic) is 800-398-0327 if you want to call and find out who sells it near you. BiMart carries the scratch for $9.95 for 50 lbs and layer pellets are around $15 (not sure on the pellets exactly, but not expensive). I checked with CHS (manufacturer) and they said the quality of the feed is the same in BiMart as anywhere else and all have the same formulas no matter who sells. My husband feeds this to his racing pigeons also and they look gorgeous and lay like crazy. Some that I have tried that I didn't like for one reason or another are Scratch and Peck, Nutrena, Purina, Natural Farm Feed and a couple of others. Not saying they are bad brands but the chickens and I didn't like them 100%. Just my ramblings...

I have issues with ameraucana and EE ripping each others feathers to eat if the protein is under 20%. I can get by with their all purpose for a while and the silkies like the smaller pellets much better. I pick up some of their food if we are by a Bi-Mart in Aberdeen or Hermiston since they have good prices. Otherwise the price and discount over at Coastal makes for cheaper feed for us and Coastal doesn't carry it.

I love the Payback 5 grain scratch as do the birds

I saw that they had protein concentrates to add to grains and their Fryer is 21% but not enough calcium. I found a place to order from in Ellensburg and I am trying to decide what to order LOL

I guess see I have used the Dumoore at Del's which is Purina not really that concerned as my folks never seemed to be real picky when I was kid, I am much fussier over my dogs and cats
