Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I'm thinking about trying to breed for this color. I have two hens like this and know what caused it now.

That’s a gorgeous color! Man, I really want silkies now! Why did I not know about these little cuties before I ended up with a flock of big birds?!

@penny1960 goodnight, thank you for the chat!

They are a decorative breed, even though they are a very old breed
They are adorable. I can see why so many people have them! You said earlier in the thread that you’ll most likely have a few cull partridges....doesn’t cull mean kill? Why would they be cull? Or am I confused....which is very possible! I’m off to bed, I’ll check back tomorrow sometime! Thank you for chatting with me and now for showing me your adorable chickies! I must have some!! Hahaha

Cull means remove from the flock, though the boys do end up soup. Obvious issues for getting rid if them are incorrect number of toes or missing axial wing feathers. Things I don't want in my flock. So I sell off pullets that aren't good enough for breeding

@Hinotori that makes sense! I didn’t realize full meant just to remove from the flock. Man, you learn something new every day!

Today I went to the feed store for more chicken feed and guess what! They had SILKIES!!!! It was like a sign from above that I needed them ;). But, I passed. They really are so stinkin cute though! I think I’ll get some next spring after I’ve culled my older hens and have had a chance to build them their own coop and run. But man, it was SO HARD to tell myself no!! There were only three of them and they were all saying “take us home with you!”
