Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

They aren't everyone's cup of tea. I have had people tell me they would never own a silkie but are happy enough to see my pictures.

Most of mine are featherblind. The crests are so big. That girl is 14 weeks so hers might get bigger
They are just so funny to look at if I hatched a lot of chicks I would get some for sure and they would be fun to play around with.

I've been attempting to select for temperament on roosters as one of my criteria. This has started to result in some very friendly boys even if I don't handle them much. No worries about people aggression in them.

I can't enter any of the silkie pens easily. They see me and rush the door to get to me. So usually I have to take scratch with me so I can distract them and walk.

I do not regret having the 4 and very happy I have all of them mud, dirt, slime and grime
is their names only birds with names think final count is 1 passed out of the shell little left on it but still curled and two no nothing 9 live peeping the girls are out of the corner peeps abound the girls showing them food put a dish of water not deep enough to drown but get a little drink

I love how all my silkies have happily co-brooded the chicks. The chicks seem to do better that way. They rarely have any die. I had four hens raising some chicks before. If they thought there was a threat, one hen would hide the chicks and the other three would attack to defend her and them.

They are so great together I knew the hatch was over all four out of the corner
now I have little black peeps running all over the place
