Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

does this hurt the rooster? it may be why your having issues:confused:
No, the rooster was as sassy as ever, and I would still have that original flock if they had not eaten by fox. That's the irony: I live in a community that has restrictive ordinances on livestock, but that is overrun by coyote, bobcat, fox, and skunk, all of whom have dined sloppily on my chickens. So at great expense I built a coop/run like Fort Knox, and now I want to keep my young rooster.

First let me welcome you Second we all have to have fort knox to keep them safe.
Part falls to the outside 3 cats to control vermin that will also eat small peeps or birds, I have two such coops now my Main has adults but live in a small town no such ordinances.

Hello, I haven’t been around here for a while. But I thought I would check in. Nothing too exciting going on around here. I still have 11 chickens, I sent the little boy rooster to a friends house out in the country. He is living a great life out there, has lots of girlfriends. He grew up to be a very gorgeous barred rock. My friend plans to Ray’s mixed breed chickens, she has a wide variety so there should be some good combinations next year. My city where I live has now changed there chicken laws. We are now allowed to have 10 chickens and no roosters.

Silkie hens have some fascination with water and mud. I'm not exactly sure what she was doing to get her whole face muddy. Usually they just rub their crests in it.
