Good info mine came from a member in Longview who is no longer one here but they have started laying think I may give a few eggs to my silkie see if Red has been doing more than the OE I have

Hatching eggs might be hard to get at this time of year. The cold and light effects rooster fertility as well as hens.

I'm lucky to get a large egg every other day right now. Only 2 are laying that are 1.5 years. Another that age is still caring for her chicks. The rest are between 5 and 9 years old. I don't expect the oldest to lay at this time of year, their job is to keep control of the flock as one is the lead hen.
