Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

That's a bit early in life for a full molt. They may be doing a light one.

Heat will stop laying. Many of us are running into that right now. My girls are also trying to finish molting because summer is almost over. I'm prepping everything for the rains that should be back in a few weeks.

It’s definitely not a full nakey molt. They still look feathered. Good to know about the heat though! My ducks and quail don’t seem fazed at all so I was wondering what was going on.

Hey all! New chicken owners from the Tacoma area, here :)

We have 6 hens, all around 10-11 weeks now and are doing out best to soak up the info here :)
Welcome! I'm in E Washington! My hens just started laying a couple of weeks ago!

Hi all! I missed getting notifications...so I just caught up!

Yesterday it was 104, today it's supposed to hit 102, then the temps will drop into the 90's and into the 80's next week. My chickens and rabbits are ready for some cooler weather!

Some of my girls are laying now. It's so nice to be getting fresh eggs. Most of the eggs are still on the small to almost medium size, but one of my Marans hens is laying XL double yolk eggs. Yesterdays egg weighed 66g...good girl! It's the one on the front left the egg next to it is 57g.

Muuuuch nicer today. I didn’t have to deliver frozen water jugs to the rabbits! I got excited thinking one of my chickens was laying this morning. She sat on the nest for a good half hour, then came out singing. Went to grab the egg and poof! Nothin.

faker.
My rabbits & chickens will be getting ice today! I have a few fakers in my flock too...lol!
