Mom's in Umatilla Oregon. There is a fire on the outskirts and they are watching for alerts.

I'll pray for their safety! A small town near Pullman burned down...I can't remember the name of it, starts with an M! Dry conditions & wind make fires so dangerous!

The wind is blowing the wrong way. The fire is moving west away from Umatilla and Hermiston. If it was normal direction, both would be in danger.

Wind knocked out power all over here. Bleh.

That's good news! I hope the wind dies down soon! Is your power out?

No it wasn't Moscow it was Malden and it looks like it is closer to Cheney than Pullman! I just looked it up!

Yes. Power has been out since 11 something. I lost a tarp off the silkie pens. I went out and added 120 lb test zip ties to keep the rest on. Seems it broke the 60 lb test ones too easily.

Wind is blowing wrong direction. The tarps don't move if it's blowing normal as I have greenhouse tarps on that side. I'll be ordering some for the other side. Suckers are expensive but are reinforced 14 mil tarps so last a long time.

Then this happened last night after the power went out. About a mile away. Says the fire covered 100 acres and 8 homes burned.

I'm still watching for evac warning. They have most of it contained now though. It's very close.

I have bug out bags packed and just needed to load the truck.

The normally perennial stream dried up this year. I've never seen it dry. I can't actually tell how low the pond is.
