Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I’m sure we’ll be out there knocking the snow off if it does snow. Sometimes the rain/mist gathers on it, and if I bump it with the gate it all drops down on the run. The chickens go wild. :D
Oh, the dew on the netting, oh golly, that is a surprise when it gets bumped!

How many chooks do you have?
25!
four gold laced wyandottes
four cuckoo Marans (one rooster)
five easter eggers
eight barred rocks
two black sex links
two Buff Orpingtons (Buffo and Buffy)

My first fifteen from a hatchery came with seven cockerels instead of the two I ordered, so I got the EEs, BRs, BOs and sexlinks to even the odds until I let some roosters go because I was really attached to them. A friend took three, we made stew out of one, someone on here took the most beautiful blue Andalusian in, my favorite OE grew up into an aggressive jerk and went to freezer camp. So now we have 24 pullets and one rooster. Seven are laying although I think an EE or two much have started. Some of the BRs are getting close. these photos are a few weeks old.

how about you?

I’m also really happy with how my rooster turned out. He’s so good with the ladies and all he cares about is food. I thought his size might be a problem so we separated him with his buddies in a bachelor pad for a long time, but now that the pullets are older, they’re all great together. He’s also a little clumsy and slow, and if he misbehaves, all the pullets will run him off. I’m excited to be able to replenish my laying stock of Marans - he was one of the two roosters I actually ordered. They’ll all be hatchery stock but they all the sweetest of all my chickens and they lay beautiful eggs.

We LOVE our friends in Washington State and we know y'all love to chat! The original Washingtonians thread has over 80,000 replies which is AMAZING!

It's great to see peeps who love raising backyard chickens come together, but all that discussion in a 5 year old thread is bogging down the server when we do updates. For this reason we're starting this new Washingtonians thread.

Rest assured that the entire original Washingtonians thread will remain closed from new replies, but completely intact. You'll be able to reference, search, and read it any time!

Please continue all of your great discussions here.

Thanks to all our Washington friends for being (chatty) members of our wonderful community!!!!
(You are so welcome! I am the queen of chatty!)
I love talking with Y'all! I also love that there are many WA peeps here!
