Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I keep the greenhouse tarps up on the west and south side of the silkie runs all year and open the rest. It's noticeably cooler in than outside the pens.

The older large fowl got over the tarp and have been hanging out under it dust bathing.

The dogs left me to go inside before I was done watering. Zeus can push open the door if it's not latched. They say it's too hot out.

Cats are sleeping in the shade.

Hey did the coops fast got back in sticky so showered cool oh it felt good .. hair is still dripping.. Animal are smarter than we are birds love the fans in the coops they will all be stacked to get the cool air .. Yes cats are in the shade that live outside funn but take cold water out to them they love it..

My cats insisted on going out this morning. Only came in for a snack, then back out. Leia has deemed the bottom of the little broody coop hers. She lays on the tiny house under there or on the soil. It's all shaded from plants around it. I leave the bottom door open. Both cats have taken to sleeping in the top when it gets too rainy. Stupid silkies wont use the ramp but cats have no issue.

Large fowl are locked up unless Im watering to keep them out of the garden. I need to do that this afternoon. They will probably go in with Leia to dust bathe.

Hey guys! I just placed an order for Meyer hatchery's jumbo Cornish X, hatching on July 6. There was a minimum 25 chicks requirement, but I don't really need that many. Does anybody in the SeaTac area want a few when they arrive? They were $1 each.

Or if you want a metric ton, they're still on sale I believe, though I'm not sure for how much longer. It's not listed on their website, you'll have to call to get the deal.

In other news, I am so done with this heat. 😤

How’d everyone fair with the heat today? My 3-month-old pullets did okay (lots of panting but seem cooler now that the sun is going down). I’m nervous for the next couple days. I’ve been employing the recommendations posted here, but they still look so miserable.
Pretty good, definitely some panting and wing holding, but lots of ice water helped. More worried for tomorrow though because its going to be even warmer.
