Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

For the first time EVER, all 13 girls laid yesterday! I really started to think I had imagined my little scissor beak had started laying, but 13 eggs! Of course, after ordering chicks last year, I found out I'm mildly allergic to eggs and my kids are both in a "I don't like eggs" stage...but, we give away our eggs to my mother in law and 3 of her neighbors and also take eggs to my stepdad by the (20+) dozen when we visit him! He shares with my sister and his kids/grand kids as well, so the eggs end up going out to more than 10 families and don't ever go to waste!

I'm so proud of my girls.

Think I am like a loner that does not name my birds ..
I do name my Rooster..
I have a 7 and 9 year old...they named most of them, lol. Buddy was named by my husband...she was a super friendly chick, but a very standoffish hen. Our accidental roo was named Stella (a Delaware)....talk about a foretelling name, we were always yelling "Stellllllla!" at him. :he

Morning or Afternoon State.. I was all worried about frizzle she lays the a little green egg... Have not had one almost 2 weeks.. Better half goes opens and closes that coop.
She is in full molt poor girl no wonder she does not lay ...
We have 3 coops all had birds. Postal bud picked up the one I raised for her. It has been about year since she had birds Divorce will do that...
She decided she missed them ..

Good morning Peeps well its gonna rain again today and my chicken run is soooooooooooo muddy what are you all using in your runs?? They have eaten up all the grass so its just dirt and grass clippings from the yard along with the wood shavings it has done well all winter but now its an absolute mess!!!!!
We have a large run that is 20' x 12' and most of it is covered by a tarp the only dry spot in the run is directly under their coop. I don't worry about it most days since we don't make them stay in there we let them free range around our back yard except when its raining but hey we are in Washington so that's most days. right now we only have 4 hens out in the coop / run will be a few more weeks until the latest new chicks will be big enough to go outside they are only 3 weeks old but would like to have a dry yard when they do go out ..... Any ideas?? I would be more than grateful added a few photos of the run/ coop area

I use wood chips from a tree service. It’s the only reasonable thing for me to use plus so far they’ve been free!

I haven’t taken any decent pics of my run forquite a while because it’s such a mess! What little plant life it had when we built it, the girls dug up and ate. They’ve taken to turning the whole thing into a dust bath spot after the actual dust bath area flooded. 🤦🏻‍♀️ The Tin on top at the far end leaks horribly, so that far end is pretty unusable when it really rains! I hope to get up there closer to the end of summer and get a large tarp up over it for next year, but don’t have a “good plan” for this year. When I clean out the coop, in a month or two, I plan to toss the pine into their run and switch to sand in the coop (encouraging the dust baths in there instead of all over the run). I’m hoping for “easier” clean up…but will have to see how it goes.
