Hey there alive here my 2 silkie want to be broody finally got eggs from both .. our black bird with the polish pom. We call her shift nob lays daily. The frizzle lays a green egg. get close to 4 months since we have seen a green egg.

Oh, boy. I now have 2 broodies. One, I am letting set 6 eggs. The other is just broody. Have her in jail tonight, put her outside the coop all day. Talk about a mad chicken! The cockerel is still attacking everyone from behind, and I pinned him again today. Cinnamon was trying to come and peck at his head while I had him down, so had to shoo her away (he still hasn't gotten above her in the pecking order). I don't have the fortitude to make soup out of him. Will he ever settle down? He's almost 18 wks. Sapphire Gem.

Now it's berry picking every other day! Busy time of year. Finally got straw mulch over most of the garden, so not as much watering to do. Yay! Romaine is about done. Time to start bok choy and more lettuce.

He will settle down. Give him time.

Hey all how is everyone handling the week of 90 out here on the western side?
I did frozen vegetable peas and carrots bought for them.

Since the weather got hot, 3 hens went broody.

I have chicks in incubator, and some that are ordered, both to arrive on Wed.

I bring frozen water bottles and put them where they hang out, I put a big winter sled out full of water, they like to stand in it, and I have shade. And lots of melon.

So far so good. But it's 'only' 82 degrees out. They are just poking around the heavily tree'ed side yard. I refresh their cold water every couple of hours.
