Everybody laid today. Of course except for Mama hen. First time in a long time, especially with newly matured pullets. Do hens with water belly usually not lay?
How is everyone's gardens faring? Sadly, one of the more loaded branches of my peach tree broke. Guess I'll leave it there for the deer clean up. We have a couple fawn visiting with their mom. Everything has been late/slow.

I actaully got 7 eggs yesterday been getting just 5 the last 7 days, Pomptly dropped on the floor

I felt under their vents, seemed larger than normal, and they were shaking their heads often. One other GC had died last week, and seemed her belly was swollen like a water balloon. I received an educated guess from another post in the emergency thread. I might be anxious.

Going to turn my main coop into a mess today. They gave me three eggs in nesting boxes so I am taking 3 nesting boxes leaving just 3..

When i was up to 30 large fowl, they only used 4 of the 8 available boxes. They really liked the 4 hole metal wall nest boxes I installed. I still have 2 of the wood ones out for them, but they still prefer the wall ones.

I use the walmart storage boxes with hole cut for them to get in.. Have most my birds right now wanting to be broody.

Mine all use the same 2 boxes. Once in awhile, one of the non favorite boxes. Now that Mama hen has claimed the main coop for her bedroom, the other girls can't even go in there. Until the chicks are weaned, so to speak.

Mine all layed in the 4 boxes gave them a salad mix we bought the last part of it was not edible by people but brids had a party.

Nothing like a salad party! I have some sad romaine, so they get to have it. They love kale, so I grow some for them, more than me.

I use Kale in salads when it is young can usually get like 4 servings on one plant. Same with lettuces cut just above the root.
