Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Might be good to carry a gun back and forth for bit. Good dogs!
No one has a gun around here as it's a no shoot zone. My hubby grabbed the air horn. We have a paintball gun as well (my in-laws had a black bear on their porch for 4 hours, so all this stuff came from game and wildlife). Folks are fairly tolerant of the bears here as they mostly go after bird feeders, berries and dead fish, but no dead fish yet.

Well that was fun... came back from walking the dogs and the 2 bigger ones took off and ran to the creek just behind the chicken run. Sounded like someone was tearing down a tree - except that "someone" was a black bear, and the dogs had treed it just across the creek. We called back the dogs and hubby stepped out a few minutes later and said he could hear the bear splashing in the creek upstream.

Chickens weren't terribly perturbed, and no damage was done to the run. It's salmon season so the bear was most likely following the fish upstream.

My stupid 12 pound little schipperke would chase bears. She also had selective hearing. So stressful

I just had a rooster die right in front of me while I was feeding this morning :( I felt so helpless, he was gaping his mouth and seemed to be choking. No other symptoms at all, healthy 10 month old black copper marans roo. He's been in heavy molt along with the rest of the flock. He is in a bachelor pen with our special needs older roo as his buddy, and he's been a really great, relaxed guy in that job. I'm so sad about it.
Odd. I have noticed that this has happened to several other people of late, including me. 🤨😕
Sorry for you loss.

Hello everyone! It had been a very long time since I've been on this thread! Hope everyone is doing alright. It is starting to get nippy outside at night. Winter is around the corner! From last year my flock increased from 6 to 21.

I'm in search of a Serama Rooster. No particular size, color or age. Any of you selling or giving away one?
