My chickens come out in all weather. When it's raining hard there are a few shelters here and there, and of course their big coop and enclosure. They'll duck inside until the rain stops and then come out to splash around in the puddles. Snow doesn't stop them either.

Trying to keep water accessible is my challenge. I have one heated waterer in the coop, but they don't go in there during the day except to lay. The others I switch out as needed. I keep a few thawed and ready in the shed.

I'm pretty much over the rain. It rains here.

My gray egg layer is laying again. I hope she can still do this when my rooster is old enough to breed.

I keep talking telling mine they will be soup I need eggs.. 7 that can lay but no more than two a day. The rest get the molt card.. Even Smudge hard heavy molt.

Same here. I have plenty of laying age hens, but I'm lucky to get a couple eggs a day. Not just molt. I think the shorter, colder days make a difference too.

Just getting frustrated here going to hatch a bunch this spring make a few soup.

I have a hard time with that. Who would I cull? I love all my hens. I have 3 that are way beyond laying age, but they are safely retired here. lol I only ever cull difficult roosters.

See they are farm animals here not pets that is my take at least.
Yes hatching may get roo's they but one will be soup.. I have one hen that i would make soup she is pain in the toosh.

Hey good morning state.. They admitted we will not have rain Monday or Tuesday.
High pressure front parked in front of the state. Learning all the news terms too.
Birds do not like to go out in the rain will not step in snow.

My silkies swear snow is acid. The ameraucana and EE get on with life and eat snow instead of drink water. Usually they like to wait for me to stomp a path if it's too deep.

Hey big girls gave me three tonight, banty gave 1.
Banty have not been in the tractor since it got so cold here ..
Val has had some rain we have not.
I made heaters of cans with cup warmers another member showed me ..
Have not had to use them here.
