Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Morning state, My family years ago would go the mill in Tacoma with the one ton
truck.
I use X-cel now pellet now need more coffee.
Going to be hot today. Make sure you have fresh water for the birds.
Thanks for the reminder! I just cleaned out all the buckets. I don’t have fancy water things. :idunno

I don't either mine are from home depot orange with horizontal nipples.
Black PVC feeders.
Birds are so use to them. The wood feeder is one we built, It holds up to 4
50 lb bags. 20180620_110333.jpg 20180620_110412.jpg 20221125_133208.jpg

Ya we did most like 9 years ago.
Had to get creative when the rats showed up.
Made the covers of larger PVC I am still doing it at night.
The rats seem to have moved on. no feed for them.

I planted my garden today. :woot We put in tomatoes, strawberries, onions, butternut squash, zucchini, cantaloupe, snap beans, potatoes, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. So excited to have it done.

Now it's time to clean off the deck from the winter debris and get the deck plants out of the greenhouse. They are doing great out there. I added some grow lights and fed them all a few weeks ago to "wake them up". We even have a few buds popping out.

I stuck the probe of a long stem thermometer (from my turkey fryer setup) to check the ground temp of my garden. It's just over 50 degrees F now. I think I'll wait a week to put my tomatoes in the ground.

I finished roughly enclosing the rest of the chicken coop I've been working on. Nice big window for morning sunshine on the roosts to get the girls moving. 32 square feet of floor space. Need to get the run finished next, so I give the chicks a place to run while I'm finishing up the coop. Still need to build and add the nest boxes, but I have a couple months before those will be needed.

It's really strange that one of the Barred Rocks has so much white in it's feathers. Looks cool, though, and seems normal otherwise. They have plenty of fresh, cool water, too. They've been eating the new X-cel food okay, and I gave them a bowl of actual store bought granite grit the other day.

Also been feeding them various greens. Dandelions, daisies, lemon balm, mint, and even some spicy horseradish leaves from the garden. They liked the horseradish!

My fancy water is rubber bowls in winter. They have buckets with cups in warm weather only because it stays clean and lasts longer.

During high summer I put the metal waterers out as well, plus the bowls to stand in.

Just use what works best for you
